I have used just about every brand of self-cleaning litter box made, only to have wasted nearly $700 in products that fail. So it's back to the basics and this litter pan is it! It's plenty big for 2 cats, not that they are ever in it at the same time, but they can move around easier, it has a high lower pan, easy lift center piece to clean the litter, with a bag hook & you never have to take off the lid. My cats and I are happy and I will have this box for years!

This box is great, very large, keeps most of the litter from being tracked out, easy to clean. I have two growing Main Coon kittens & needed something large
to accomodate them as they grow.

I have the extra large and feel it's worth it to accommodate my male cats, who like to back up into the corners. The high sloping back is a good feature for that reason. The other great feature is the shiny plastic surface of the box. I do not use a liner, and in my old litterbox, sometimes the clumping litter would stick to the bottom or sides of the box & was hard to remove. With this Hagen Catit, the clump sometimes sticks but very lightly and is easily removed.
Liner: stopped using because they get shredded by the cats and make more work than they save.

I LOVE THIS LITTER BOX. I BOUGHT TWO OF THEM. THEY ARE HUGE ... I REALLY LIKE THAT THE LID FLIPS UP SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THE TOP OFF EVER TIME YOU SCOOP...BOTH OF THEM HAVE A DEFECT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX WHERE THE LOCKING MECHANISM IS LOCATED, AS IF WHILE THE SLOT WAS BEING PUNCHED OUT SOMETHING (MAYBE PIECE THAT WAS PUNCHED OUT) GOT STUCK AND BROKE THE SLIDE SLOT. I'M KEEPING THEM ANYWAY...VERY NICE. :)

I bought this item to help reduce the litter getting everywhere. I was afraid my kittens wouldn't like it because they have never had a covered litter box before but they adapted to it very well and without any accidents.

I have only had this a week but I was more excited than the cats ! I have 5 cats and the male is , what I have now learned, is a corner or top sprayer. I had a HUGE open litterbox that worked well until he started doing that. I bought a jumbo Petco covered one but needed another. Read the great reviews on this one. This one is very well made. You can tell the difference when you lift it up. Also when I would reach into the other one to clean, I felt like I was reaching into a cave. This one has a top that flips back onto itself making it easier to reach in. Also, the urine and stool slides right off the bottom and sides. No sticking. I wish I had bought this one first, I would have gotten a second of this one. Really well made. Worth the extra $$.

This is the second flip front Catit litter boxes I have purchased. I bought the first one at the store and recently bought the second online. The flip-up door is a great feature -- allowing you to scoop out the clumps without taking off the entire top. and the swinging door swings freely without ever hanging up and needing repositioning. But as I noticed on the first box, the plastic is pretty thin and flimsy -- especially the part where the door swings over the bottom part, forming a small ledge. So flimsy that the box I ordered online arrived split and almost completely torn off. Rather than try to return, my husband is trying to glue back together. such a nicely designed product would be a great product if it were sturdier-- especially the part described above.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have been using 2 of these litter boxes for a few weeks, and so far I love them. With 5 cats and one being a very LARGE cat, we needed jumbo size boxes. I love the flap/lid feature which allows me to scoop without removing the entire lid.....was worth it for this feature alone.

I found the box was twice as large as I anticipated. Cats prefer corners so have to remove cover to clean..(I don't use a plastic liner).
The main problem is the charcoal filter which is not well protected from kitty paws. My cats have WAY TOO MUCH FUN playing with and removing it from its attachment; plus whoever is on top then reaches in from the lid to tease the cat inside using the box. I've finally given up on hunting for the errant filter after its been dragged around and hidden repeatedly.

The reason I needed a new box is my older cat has gotten pretty big, she is 13 lbs, and was having trouble getting in and out of the old litter box. The opening on this box is really big (i had to take the swing door off, she didn't like it) and the space inside the box is huge. I order the jumbo size.
I love the flip up part in front so I can clean it without having to take off the entire lid. Great box for larger cats or for people with several cats like me.

I have two 4 month old kittens and this is my 3rd litter box (if you don't count the cardboard box with a liner that was given to us with the kittens!). Our kittens have had on and off chronic diarrhea for various reasons. The male still has stool issues and it has resulted in poo being slung on the walls and ceiling of the small area where we keep the litter box. After spending hours wiping down the walls and ceiling this weekend, I went in search of our next litter box to help control the mess. I purchased the jumbo size litter box and a box of jumbo size litter box liners and wala! My problem is solved. Not only does this litter box contain the mess, it also holds in some of the noxious odors that come with our male cats feces. I would much rather clean out the interior of the litter box and cover than the walls and ceiling of the room where it resides! The kittens quickly learned how to get in and out of the litter box and I love that the door folds back completely to allow me access to scoop it out. I can't believe I'm saying this about a litter box, but I LOVE THIS!

I found this product to be excellent for a household with more than 2 cats. Since I have 3, all of my cats are more comfortable with the large amount of space given to use. No more messes and everyone is happy!

Best cat litter i've bought thus far. It locks on the side (Stopping any kitty fluid from escaping the back of the kitty litter box), has a privacy aspect to it for those shy cats, and is really easy to clean. plus, you dont have to detach the whole top the clean it out, the front where the door flap is can be pulled up for easy access of the... presents. the only reason i didnt give it a five is because even though i liked the flap my cats are too stuborn or dumb to constantly walk through to it, so i just removed it

I love this litter box so much I now have two. There's a lip at the door of the box that helps minimize the amount of litter my cats can spread all over the floor. The door also flips up so that I don't have to take the top of the box off just to clean the litter. That was the biggest selling point for me.

I have two cats, and this one is enclose, has tall base that keeps litter in, and carbon filter. I believe it came with a door, but my two wouldn't go in with it attached.
We really like this box.. It is sturdy, and holds a lot of litter. I clean once a day (with two cats, that isn't bad).
The door would really help with odor, but without the door, the filter doesn't really work. I would definitely purchase this box again for size and durability. My cats dig to china until they hear me yell "stop that". So we had to have a covered box, with enough room that my big boy (~20 pounds) could circle inside.
Affordable too.

I love this cat box for it's ease of cleaning - i took the door off permanently as my cats don't like doors. The top lift up for scooping is such a great idea. the only thing wrong with the design of the box (other than the locks being hard to slide as others have mentioned) is that my cats like to sit on top of the litter box hood and i found one of them eating the carbon filter. I ended up covering it with fabric. I did write to Hagen and let them know if they ever redesign this to put the carbon filter inside. She didn't get sick but some other cat might.
