This is a high quality crate

I just received this soft crate and it is by far one of the best purchases I have made for my little dog. It is extremely easy to set-up and very well to put together. I bought this so she would have a place all to her own in my apartment, and so far it has worked wonderfully. I don't normally crate my dog, but the front "door" easily rolls up so she can go in and out as she pleases.

Great for already crate-trained dogs

I like the size and look of this crate. It set up very easily and is light, will be great for travel. I do wish it had screens on the back and top of the crate for a little more air flow, but my dog doesn't seem to mind.
My dog was slightly wary of this crate at first, but after it aired out (and lost the plastic smell) and we put her blanket and toys inside, she made herself at home. This crate should only be used for dogs who are well crate-trained with no history of escape attempts. Crate=sleepy time for my dog, so she has no issues, but this crate would not do for initial crate training.

Just What I Wanted

I was looking for a soft-sided crate for my 50 lb Dalmatian, and I'm so glad I ordered this one! I think it's very sturdy, although it's probably not a good choice for excessive chewers. I like that there is no annoying metal swinging door. The zip-up front panel can be rolled up and secured so it's out of the way, and Gracie is free to go in and out of her cozy bed. It's also great for car rides, super light-weight, and easy to move around.

Good Value, Satisfactory Construction

I have two labs between 60-70 lbs (10 months and 2.5 yrs). My first crate was the PETCO Home and Travel Portable Canvas Crate. I bought the 36Wx24Lx23H size and had to return it b/c it was not tall enough. I got the next size larger (42Wx28Lx27H) but it was almost too wide and long. The Pet Gear Travel Lite soft crate 36Wx24Lx27H is the perfect height, width and length for both my labs. They can turn around in the crate and stretch out when laying down. It also fits through doorways so I can move it from room to room without colapsing. The material and the frame of the PETCO Canvas Crate is superior to the Pet Gear, but it is also more expensive. The PETCO Canvas Crate has openings on the top and on three sides which allows for different positioning, whereas the Pet Gear only has one opening. Both crates have plenty of sides with screens which allow for air circulation and viewing. The PETCO Canvas Crate comes with a crate mat whereas the Pet Gear does not. This will cost about $20 to $40 more to buy one separately. The construction of the Pet Gear is sufficient for my needs (sleep and occasional crating up to four hours during the day) and should stand up to daily use so long as it is not being moved around all the time. I would not suggest a soft crate at all if you think your dog will chew or paw through the material or has extreme separation anxiety.
