Broken Zipper After Three Month's Use

"Our Golden Retriever loves this Petmate kennel. However, the zipper has broken, and now I am having to buy another crate. The zipper keeps going off track, and our dog has learned to push from the inside to open the door to his crate. About half the time that we put him in the crate, he gets out and roams freely. I recommend buying a more durable product, likely not a Petmate product. We bought this Petmate crate three months ago, and now it is broken. It is poor quality, and it is too expensive."

"I purchased the smallest "Pup Tent", as we call it, for my 1lb 3oz Yorkie Puppy. She goes in it on her own for relaxation and treats now that she's older and her 5lb step-sister Yorkie goes in it, too. It's cute, durable, lightweight and Puppie/Dog Friendly for use! Small pockets on the sides for money and keys. The windows that can go up or down like window covers on a tent are great for lighted and drafty places. Highly recommend!"

"I love this product both for style and quality!! I keep it collapsed (3" thick) and stored in it's zippered bag in the back of our family van. When we want to take our "Chi-wow-wee" along for a pleasure ride or an anxious visit to the vet her Petmate Home is prepared for her in less than a minute. No storage issues like with the big and bulky carriers and much more roomier than the small pet purse carriers. Whether for pleasure or emergency we will always be prepared to transport our Chihuahua safely and in style!!"

Petmate Portable Pet Home problematic

"Everything was great with this pet house until I left the room and my dog realized the zippers are weak on this home. My dog is a 50 lb. Aussie that simply pushes on the door and the zipper gives way and he is free. He has done this repeatedly and I have had to purchase another travel pet crate that actually works."

"My chihuahua calls this his home... He even refuses to sleep on my bed, he wants to go to his own house and sleep there, I sometimes have a hard time getting him out of there. I recommended this to other friends and they love it too! I only recommend getting a larger size so that they have room to move around. I used it so much that the zippers broke so, I guess they can improve on quality. But I still love it because we can bring the dogs along to the beach or whereever."

My American Bulldog loves her house

"This is a fantastic crate. I purchased the XL for my American Bulldog and it has proven to be durable, easy to clean up, and simple to setup and take down. I moved my bulldog into it when she was 8 months old and had out grown her original crate. We have had no issues with zippers breaking or tears in the fabric. The only detractor was the solid bottom. It is a piece of particle board covered in faux fur. Our bulldog had to chew it. She could not stop herself. We pulled the whole thing and just put in her favorite blanket. The upside is the pet home is now considerably lighter so it makes it easier to transport. All in all an outstanding product."

"My dog needs to be confined any time she is alone, and this portable home is perfect for travelling. It folds and stores so easily, and it is also very cute and spacious. The only thing it needs is more padding on the inside. There is a thin board covered with one layer of sherpa fleece, but it still feels like laying on a board."

"I do want to say I love these portable homes for adult dogs. They are a great to keep your dog safe traveling or just visting family.
My adult dogs love them because no matter where we go they feel at home & always have something fimilyour.
Now for the bad.. This is not a good portable home for puppy's or a destrutive chewer. Since this is made out of fabric you can bet they will chew a way out. They do sell shells, but for the price I would wait untill you know you can trust your dog."

"I bought this carrier to put my two Chihuahua's in on a flight. The size seemed right and so was the price. Upon take off, I hear people on the plane say "look at the cute little Dog". Not something you want to hear 4 and 5 rows behind you when you have the only dogs on the flight. They learned how to escape. So, the whole 5 hour flight, we had 2 very distressed animals who were trying to escape again. When I arrived home, the fabric had come apart. So, after 1 trip, I need a new carrier. Also, the dogs were so overheated. Don't waste your money! "

"This pet carrier is a great item: very compact and portable, easy access for the dog and for the people, and it includes a soft mat inside. I have been keeping my mother's toy poodle (Bozo) for several months, and he has happily gone inside every day as my husband and I prepare to leave for work. One day (in a different environment) he figured out how to unzip the door and get out. Since then, I have secured the two zipper pulls together. Everything has been great until today. I left Bozo inside the carrier for about 2 hours (it was not his regular routine time to be enclosed) and he chewed the zipper to the door in two during that time (he has never chewed anything except a toy till now). Unfortunately, I guess we will now have to get a wire or plastic crate for him. I would definately purchase another of these, but not for Bozo's use. "
