Review 1 for Petco De-Skunking Dog Shampoo
Good to use as a secondary de-skunking shampoo.

Alone, this dog shampoo will not remove the stench from a full blast of skunk spray from your dog's fur. The first time I used it I think my dog had only rolled in some old skunk spray she found somewhere outside. She stank but it was only a mild stink. I used the shampoo and it left a pleasant scent. But the next time it did NOT work alone. She's an indoor/outdoor dog so I had to get rid of the stink ASAP or poppa would have made her sleep outside. I had to do some research but I found some techniques that have helped. (Last year she was sprayed 5 times! You'd think she would have learned to avoid them after the first time... Dogs!?) This is what works for us: 1) Immediately after discovering my dog has been sprayed, I wipe her down with some paper towels and alcohol-containing mint-flavored mouthwash. 2) Then, I apply a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and some dish soap. (There are many recipes readily available online). I let that sit for a few minutes, usually 5-10 minutes; 5 if she got a mild dose of mercaptan or 10 if she got a full dose. Unfortunately, this mixture can also have a mild bleaching effect on the fur, so, for this reason some may not want to use it on their pets. Also, you've got to be VERY careful not to get it into your dog's eyes. 3) I make sure to thoroughly rinse off that mixture and then I apply the Petco De-Skunking Dog Shampoo. I like it for 3 reasons: 1. It helps ensure that I've rinsed away the hydrogen peroxide mixture. 2. It leaves a pleasant scent. And 3. It's reasonably priced.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have bathed my pup that was sprayed by a skunk two nights in a row with this shampoo with zero results. If anything, she smells worse than she did the first night after I bathed her w/ Oatmeal shampoo (which was all I had at the time). I just picked up $50 worth of other product (spray and shampoo) from my vet with hopes of better results.
