Burns out in less than 30 days

I've been using these bulbs for years and they used to last about 18 months, but now they only last about 30 days before burning out. This happened to me three times in a row recently. I bought one and it burned out in a week so I exchanged it with for the same item. This second one burned out in one day so I exchanged it again. The third one lasted 30 days and then burned out again. Quality control has really gone downhill this year for this product. I am switching to another brand for my actinic CFL bulbs.

They do the job.

Have had several of these in my 10 and 5 gal saltwater tanks. They work well and bring out the blues in coral and fish. Have only purchased one bulb with problems. It was only half as bright as it should have been so I took it back and got a replacement with no trouble.

Works when it wants
PostedApril 9, 2011
I bought one and loved it but then after about a week it would decide when it wants to work, and if it doesnt work I would just smack the top of the tank then it would turn back on. Brought it back and got a new, and now this one is doing the same. I love them when they work, they provide a nice bright white/blueish look. I have two for my hood right now and only have problems with the one, hopefully petco will let me return this one too.
