I purchased this machine 8 mos ago, at the encouragement of my daughter, who has had one for 5 years. I'm retired, and money is an issue. But also, I had heart surgery and was unable to carry the huge bags of litter for my two cats, I just adopted.
I never have to deal with anymore, and all I do is replace the cartridges. As far as cleaning, I take it outside, and hose it down, and scrup it with a toilet brush. It only takes 15 minutes, and we are good to go again. I do this about every 2-3 months.

i never write reviews. but this one, i just had to. this product actually does what it says!!! i have had it a couple of weeks and it has absolutely changed our lives. it is a little noisy (but is does have a night mode). but we actually were going to have to find our finicky cat a new home. now we get to keep her! she loves it. we have three cats and one didn't want to ever share the litter box...even though it was cleaned twice a day. this has solved the problem. i never smell anything! actually, it smells fresh and clean whenever i go into my laundry room. it was easy to hook up to the laundry plumbing and has taken care of itself ever since. i really didn't want to spend the money for it, but it has allowed me to keep my finicky cat and as made our lives soooo much easier. it is almost like not even having a litter box. this product does what it says! buy it....you won't be sorry!

I have to say that it set up easy and has been running great. I have three cats and the two youngest thing it is awesome, they watch while it cleans. I just kept giving treats while it was running. My third cat is not so happy just yet, he is 18 years old and very stubborn. I know everyone tells you to accommodate for the space needed but I really didn't realize how big it is. My husband joked we could take it camping and use it for our toilet! Anyways, so far so good I know there are mixed reviews so I recommend doing what I did which is registering it as soon as you get it, follow all the directions for cleaning and maintenance, and keep one old litter box and litter just in case. But I took the chance and so far I am pretty happy, although I do need to get a new toilet seat that won't crush the hose.

The Catgenie is a self-cleaning litter box. You never have to clean up your cat's potty ever again. The Catgenie flushes all of the waste away automatically. Definitely well worth the initial expense.

very easy to install, I have 2 genies because I have 7 indoor cats. I have the Cat Genies in the basement hooked up to the washing machine plumbing. All adapted to the genie with no problem at all. The greatest invention ever! I love that I don't have to lug heavy cat litter anymore. I especially love that I don't have to scoop up litter and dispose of it any longer!

Love, love, love the cat genie. I was so tired of always cleaning our cat box. We have three cats and had a cat box in our bathroom. We replaced it with the cat genie and I will probably get another one for our laundry room. I have wanted one of these for a long time and really wish I had gotten one sooner!

I have had this litter box for about 2 weeks and it is AMAZING. I hooked it up to my toilet and it does exactly what it says. Instructions are very easy to follow. I have 2 cats, one is very picky, and they both started using it immediately. I have it set on "cat" so it cleans each time they do something. I don't know why I didn't purchase this earlier. I am never cleaning a litter box again! Definately worth the money.

This is amazing! Never touch cat litter again, it cleans itself (you program how often) and there's no trace of the smell of a litterbox.
Our cats took to it right away, in fact,when it cleans itself, they line up to watch.
We recently went on vacation, and didn't have to ask our cat sitters to scoop the catbox.
LOVE, LOVE LOVE it!!!

...I'm starting to look elsewhere. I want my bathroom back. I want to live without plastic pellets EVERYWHERE. Even in the dog's poo. I found litter at work! (How the?) Sweep twice a day and it is still out of control. I get error message for clogs after the unit has finished a complete cycle and shut off. I have litter everywhere. I have a nasty litter box I must clean in the bathtub because the hopper gets gunked up. It stinks so bad while cleaning that my neighbor whose living room window is across the way from my bathroom window asked what I ate for dinner the night before. This is normal. I never run the thing if I am expecting company within a couple of hours. I get litter stuck to the bottom of my feet in the middle of the night. It is god awful noisy. I will probably never get rid of those little plastic pellets as long as I live.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I just got mine and haven't had it but about a week but so far it's the best thing ever invented. I don't come home to a litter box smell anymore. I don't have to scoop litter or change the litter anymore. Thanks Petco!!!!!

Our family householdd consists of 2 adults, 3 kids, a dog and (2) cats. Our cats age vary; one being repectively 4 years old and the other 14 years old.
Over the course of many years of using conventional cat box(s) and dealing with all type of litter from cedar, to clay to clumping varieties we moved to automatic litter box's about 10 yeers back.
I've used a variety of brands over the years consisting of littermaid, purforma and freshsents "scoopfree". All of the models I've used from the different brands have been their XL highest featured units.and everyone of them has broken within 1-2 years max. One every single unit, the rake motor has burnt out which seems to be the norm from various other reveiws I've recently encountered.
This time I investigated alternatives such as litter-robot and of course the catgenie I ended up purchasing. Although upfrontly more expensive then my previous encounters, the quality and operational aspects of the unit are most impresive.
I found unboxing and setting up the unit per the included instruction to be pretty straight forward. I decided that our utility room ould be the prefect place for it to reside as not only was that our previous at box placement location, but it had the required water and drain line hookup(s) since our washer/dryer were also located there. The unit does have a washing machine noise to it's operation, nut that is to be expected for what it does. truthfully it is in a utility room and is quiter then our high end washing machine so it hasn't bothered me, the wife or kids in any way.
I opted to to purchase the matching top/sidewall add-on since my cats are used to privacy when doing their "business".
Both cats took to the catgenie right off the bat. Although curious about the unit expecially during the first few cleaning cycles, they adjusted to it suprisingly fast.
I've now had the unit in operation about a week and thus far have been very happy with it's operation, cleanliness, and overall operation. Not havign to scoop litter on a daily basis or even weekly for that matter has been a nice turn of events for myself. In fact I've inspected the unit several times over the course of the week to see how clean it actually is during the course of heavy useage.
To my suprise it works exactly as advertised and is spotless. No more scooping, sweeping and best of all no more typical odor associated with cat boxs which every cat owner ypically has to deal with.
The unit comes with a fresh scent cleaning catridge, but after reading reviews I opted to get an additional unscented catridge at the time of purchase. I initially installed the scented cartridge and have been pleasantly comforted by it's fragrance thus far over the "usual cat smell" I've never gotten accustomed to. When this catridge runs out, I'll opt to put in place the unscented one just because I already have purchased it; however I'll may my final decision as to what will be used after that pont at a later date after I see, or sould I say smell the differance between the two.
I do however recomend purchasing a litter matt to go around or at least infront of the cat genie. I've found that my cat's still like to burry their "deposits" and tend to throw litter out of the box even though it is covered as I mentioned earlier.

I am so happy that I finally purchased the CatGenie 120!! I have been looking at getting one for some time now. My husband and I set it up - it only took about 30 min. We watched in awe as we activated the cleaning process for a test run. The cats took to the CatGenie right away! They love the always fresh cat box! I think they even enjoy watching it clean when they are done. I have two cats who both used the CatGenie within 20 min. of setting it up! No more buying and changing out dirty cat litter! No more complaints from my husband that the cats stink!

FINALLY FREEDOM FROM SCOOPING AND SCRAPING CAT FECES AND DRIED ON CAT URINE!!!! I have owned my cat genie since Feb. and it is working awesome for my two ragdoll cats!! I did purchase the extra side walls with mine because I have big kitties but My cats took to it right away. I have mine hooked up in my laundry room. I started off by pushing the button myself to start the cleaning process but then changed it over to the cat activation mode which is fantastic! When ordering my cat genie I love that they included a box of granules to fill the box but then they also included a extra box if you need to replenish and add a little extra as the days go by. Well I still have my extra box it's still full! I goes a long way for use. FYI - if you use the cat activation mode you solution lasts even longer!! I'm still using my cartridge from Feb. for two cats! I have saved lots of money not having to buy cat litter Amen to that!!!

I have two miniature Chiweenies -- Louey & Lola -- who were litter-box trained right after we got them as tiny puppies. But after TWO YEARS of scooping smelly clumps, two years of breathing in litter dust and vacuuming up litter . . . well, something had to give!
Enter the CatGenie! It wasn't that difficult to set up, maybe 20 minutes and a wrench. It worked perfectly right out of the box, and how often can you say that about anything??
I wondered if the dogs would be skittish about it, but when we fired up the CatGenie for the first time they were totally curious. The first day or two was an adventure, but very quickly they got acclimated to it, and now they use it all day long. Really little dogs can't wait for 8-10 hours . . . they need to eliminate multiple times during the day. This way, if we're late coming home, or want to leave for a few hours on Saturday, no problem, and no guilt. The dogs go as often as they want, with almost no mess or fuss.
We run the CatGenie once a day, usually in the early evening when we take the dogs outside to play. When we come back inside, there's a completely cleaned, sanitized and deodorized litter box.
We originally ordered the rails and dome, but our dogs are just a bit too big to comfortably get through the opening, so that's something to consider. With it off, though, they jump right in, do their bidness, and hop out.
I have nothing negative to report so far, the product works exactly as it's advertised. I can completely recommend it. As for the price, just consider what you spend on cat liners and cat litter over the course of a year. Who needs it, when there's a far better alternative available?
So far . . . all the 4-legged and 2-legged creatures in this household LOVE IT!!

It does work quite well - when your cats use it and parts aren't falling off.
1. Not all of my cats took to it (in spite of following the enclosed instructions for acclimatising the cats to it) and we had a couple of issues with inappropriate urination (i.e. on the couch).
2. There was an issue with the machine making strange clanking noises while in operation, just a couple of days after we got it. As instructed in the owner's manual, I contacted Tech Support where I had to leave a message on their answering machine. No call back. Another message. No call. You get the idea. Six messages, no return calls. We ended up having to take the machine largely apart and re-situate some cogs against cogs. No more strange noise, but we've had the thing for eight weeks now and still haven't had a return call from any of the six messages left. One has to wonder if the call-back may have been a bit more efficient if I was calling to order the thing.
3. The scooper has fallen off it's handle numerous times so one has to reach in to a feces-covered scooper, disassemble a fair part of the machine, and try to reattach the thing. I bought the $350 litter box so that I didn't have to stick my hands in cat feces any more. More calls to tech support, more ignored messages.

I was willing to pay $350 to get a litter box that I didn't have to deal with any more (except for the occasional maintenance work). In fact, I was happy to pay $350 for that. But, at that price, I don't expect parts to fall off, I don't expect it to be poorly assembled, and I do expect a return call if I have an issue. So, product okay'ish, customer support non-existent.
We are sending it back. At least with a regular litter box I know I have a scooper with a handle and don't have to be grabbing the feces-covered scoop every day. I am very disappointed, I had such high hopes for this product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

For the first 3 months it worked without a hitch. We maintained the unit per Get Genie's instructions and made sure it was working properly. All of a sudden I started getting error alerts at all hours of the day and night. After contacting the manufacturer we were told that the processing unit's were faulty and they were having a lot of returns. They offered to send us a new unit at no charge. Over a week later we had still not received the new unit so we called to inquire about it. We were informed that it had not been shipped because we had not sent them proof of purchase. We had been told just to send in a copy of our receipt with the new unit. They (Cat Genie) told us we had to send them an electronic copy before they would ship our replacement. Had I not kept the email from Petco we would be out of luck. Now 2 weeks later we are still waiting on our replacement. It has been such a nightmare I will never again order a product made by Cat Genie other than the items required to run this product. Should the replacement prove faulty, I will return the entire litter box and just go back to the old way of doing things.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I received my Cat Genie 120 in Dec of 2009. It was so easy to install and extremely easy to use. The cats took to it right away, and now enjoy watching it! It is wonderful not having to worry about cleaning the litter box every day. Cat Genie customer service is awesome! We recently had to switch back to cat litter, as we are moving, and the cats just look at me like "are you kidding me? You want us to step into that mess?" I know they will be happy to get to our new house and back to their Cat Genie!

I am impressed with the Cat Genie. It was quite easy to install and is very efficient. We were using a LitterMaid cat box but found that litter was getting tracked everywhere as there was not time for clumping. Now with the Cat Genie, the litter is washed and dried and so the wet waste just goes down the drain and the solid waste is scooped away to be emulsified and sent down the drain as well. We have ours attached in the laundry room and so far seems to be working out just fine. This is the best cat box ever!

I purchased my Cat Genie 3 weeks ago and MUST say.....WOW, well worth the cost! I have (3) indoor cats who took to it immediately! Fast delivery and easy set up. Mild odor when it cleans after being in "sleep" mode for the night, but rapidly dissipates. Granule loss no more than wiith standard litter, I've only added a small amount once in the past 3 weeks! I highly recommend this for anyone held hostage by the litter box!!
