Cooking Spray

"For all the people that have problems with the noise the trick is spray cooking spray on the part that the wheel goes on. This eliminates most of the noise. The problem I had was my gerbils chewed up the slide so I had to buy extra attachments. I also broke the tube on the right cleaning it. I threw it away and bought the Sam E 2 story cage. That was a month ago. I am now going to buy this one again and buy the critter trail z and hook them together for my 2 gerbils. I'm just going to be more careful cleaning it!!"

"I just put my hamster Winnie in this cage about a month ago, and let me tell you she LOVES it!! It is so fun to see her run up and down the slide! I only have two problems with it. 1. It is sort of small and congested in the cage. 2. My hamster like to sleep and eat in the wheel so when she eats food go's everywhere and I mean everywhere! And her bedding falls out with her food because she put the bedding in her mouth and carries it up so I have to end up vacumming up that stuff alot. But overall I like it and since my hamsters happy, I'm happy!"

"My adorable little hamsters are the loves of my life, but this product was NOT! They could push the door open, the wheel would get stuck, they can push out the water bottle and escape, push out the tubes, or tube covers on the end, and escape that way, and withing 3 days of cleaning the cage, it would become smelly! I advise you NOT to buy this product!"

"when we first got the cage it was pretty neat. but after a while the pieces started breaking really easily. the wheel squeaks really loud too and the hamster or other animal might thing of it as a restroom. it can get pretty gross."

"I've had my hamster, Rico for about a month and a week. Let me tell you he LOVES the cage, especially the wheel! He loves climbing up the tube that goes into the petting zone, and he never seems to get bored in this thing.
The only disadvantage is that he brings his pine bedding and food up into the Xtreme wheel. Then, when he runs, it goes all over the place. However, Crittertrail was smart by adding that little "tray" underneath underneath the wheel. Even if that doesn't work (it didn't for me), all you have to do is take the top off one of those giant copy paper boxes and put it underneath the cage.
I highly recommend that you buy this cage for any Hamster, Dwarf Hamster, or Mouse. I guess it would be O.K. to buy it for a gerbil, but they have a tendency to gnaw on things a little more. Make sure that if you put your gerbil in this cage, that they have a lot of chew toys, as chew toys are imperative for all rodent pets, but especially gerbils.
My opinion? Overall totally awesome cage :)"

"This cage is actually pretty cool cause the little slide spiral thing but my hamster would never sleep in the little house thing well sometimes. But he would love to sleep in the wheel and store all his food and bedding in it so at night when im trying to sleep it would make me go crazy. Plus, the food would come out of the little holes. So I wouls have to empty it every night which just waste food and a little bedding. But it is pretty easy to clean and everything. But if you hate being kept up all night then this isnt really a good cage."

"I am very disappointed with this hamster habitat. I purchased two cages for two hamsters. They both enjoy "living" in the wheel, along with all of their bedding and food. When the wheel spins, everything comes out of the holes and makes a huge mess on my daughters' dressers. Another problem with this cage is that the doors do not stay closed very well; so we have to use reinforcements to be sure there are no escapes!"

"my hamster was hibernating in the wheel the whole time I had this cage and when he ran in it, it made so much noise because all of his food and bedding had been brought up into it by my hamster pepper a week after I got it the wheel broke and it was just a big mess. Now that I have a different cage that my hamster loves!! I would defianatly NOT buy this cage please do not waste your money on this cage."

"this is a great cage, grover loved this cage but.. at night he would take food and bedding up to the wheel and run in it at night therfore keeping my daughter up, sometimes she would get up 2 or 3 times to dump the wheel out, so she went and bought the sam here and there 2, big mistake, but overall this is a great cage"

"I thought the wheel on top was a great idea as our dwarf hamster would have an additional place to go and we could get a better view of him when he was there. However, the wheel spins food bits and excrement all over the place. Does not make for a healthy environment in the home."

"This prodeuct is poorly made, it does not stay together very well, and some of the pieces do not fit properly. Also, my hamster makes a mess with it because anything she puts in the wheel falls all over! This is the worst hamster cage I ever had and I have had many."

"I raised hamsters when I was young, and always kept them in a 10 gallon glass tank with tubes on top. Well now I have a hamster for my own children and figured well lets try this new fun looking hamster cage. This cage is literally junk, I would not pay $5 for it if I knew what I know now. Like most others have mentioned the wheel setup is not ideal, although clever. The hamster fills it up and makes a huge mess, and it fell off several times, so we can't even use it now. The slide does not attach well, and has been broken by trying to get it in place right. Our hamster can push the cage door right open, (we had to wire it shut). The latches on the side do not latch properly. One piece to close one of the sides was missing when purchased. This thing is being held together by tape and wire. Take my advice and spend the $10 extra for a decent cage."

"I purchased this cage today for my daughters new hamster (1 of them) and when I pulled it out of the box it was broken, one of the tabs on the bottom tray where it latches together. Also it was a pain to put together and is very poor quality for the money paid, nothing fits together tight. After all that the water bottle has a continuous leak and needed to place a bowl bellow to catch it. Now Im in a hard place because I needed to seperate the little one for her safety, which will make returning it tomorrow difficult. I have no idea which one to go with but it will not be this one. Paid $44.00 to much in the store."

"I like this cage because it's spacious and it's got enough to keep the hamsters busy. I found that a lot of the other cages that I looked at were too small or too plain (hamsters would get bored easily). Assembling it wasn't that hard yet it wasn't what I would call simple either. It just takes patience. The only problem I have with the cage is that the hamsters tend to bring their food/bedding up into the wheel. So when they run it, it can create a little mess since there is air holes at the bottom. Also, if they carry food in the wheel and keep it in the wheel while they run, it can get pretty loud. My hamsters tend to do that a lot but thankfully I'm a deep sleeper so it doesn't affect me as much as it would with others. Otherwise, the wheel is fairly silent.
Cleaning it is not that hard but I would recommend using a good disinfectant on the wheel because the hamsters also tend to urinate in the wheel. I went to clean the cage for the first time today and the urine smelled so strongly. This was after a week so it doesn't take much to dirty up the wheel."

"I got this cage for my hamster, Lucy. I can even tell he does not like the cage. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS CAGE! reason 1. If your hamster or rodient is a chewer, they will chew the metal bars and that woke me up at 3:30AM. 2. When I got this cage and I was starting to put it together, the first thing that I noticed was that a little piece that was a very importent piece that holds the wheel together, snapped off. 3. Also the wheel does not spin unless somebody is spinning it. 4. So many pieces fell off!!!! Trust me, this is DEFINATLY NOT worth your time AND MONEY! I was mad aswell as my hamster! =["

"I have never written a product review before, but this cage has put me over the edge! Do not buy it!!!! The hamster puts all her food in the wheel which sends it flying when she exercises. And worse than that - she poops/pees while in the wheel - so guess what else goes flying all over the room and the top of the cage? Sick & stinky & unsanitary, to say the least."
