"My gerbils ate the slide within 2 days. They had no way to get to the top after that. We put a wooden block in so they could stand on it to get to the 2nd floor. They kept moving the block so we finally just threw out the cage! This was a complete waste of money!"

Great Cage for Dwarf Hamsters!

"When we bought our Dwarf Hamsters we picked this cage out right away. We got home and I tried to put the cage together. It is the hardest cage to put together. But after we assembled the cage my Dwarf Hamsters loved the cage. But at first they didn't go through the tubes so we had to show them and the next day they LOVED the cage. And they were going everywhere."

"This was my second cage I got with my Mom. My hamster is a Siberian Dwarf hamster. Anyways this is not the best cage. ! This cage isn't the best cage-TRUST ME. "I bought this cage in June for my son. It has done nothing but fall apart. They also made the whole inside plastic. The gerbil ate all of the plastic areas except for his wheel. The wheel keeps falling off (the clips on both sides broke) therefore, leaving a big gaping hole for the gerbil to get out. The cage looks really neat, but it is nothing more than a disaster to have."

"This hamster cage was a gift. it has least quite a long time. It is nice to hear that others are having the same issues we are. the hamsters finds new ways everyweek on how to excape. He is now chewing on the metal pieces, breaking them away and creating a hole. is Any one else having this issue. i have also seen the hamster puch the water bottles out and climb out of there.

"I got this cage for my first hamster Nilla.It is awesome except for she is really smart and can push the wire door open so i just twisty tie it now no biggie.Well i have cats and they can get there claws into her cage (i keep her in a room with a closed gate now)so i do not recommend this cage to someone with cats."

"For all the people that have problems with the noise the trick is spray cooking spray on the part that the wheel goes on. This eliminates most of the noise. The problem I had was my gerbils chewed up the slide so I had to buy extra attachments. I also broke the tube on the right cleaning it. I threw it away and bought the Sam E 2 story cage. That was a month ago. I am now going to buy this one again and buy the critter trail z and hook them together for my 2 gerbils. I'm just going to be more careful cleaning it!!"

"I just put my hamster Winnie in this cage about a month ago, and let me tell you she LOVES it!! It is so fun to see her run up and down the slide! I only have two problems with it.
1. It is sort of small and congested in the cage.
2. My hamster like to sleep and eat in the wheel so when she eats food go's everywhere and I mean everywhere! And her bedding falls out with her food because she put the bedding in her mouth and carries it up so I have to end up vacumming up that stuff alot.
But overall I like it and since my hamsters happy, I'm happy!"

They could push the door open, the wheel would get stuck, they can push out the water bottle and escape, push out the tubes, or tube covers on the end, and escape that way, and withing 3 days of cleaning the cage, it would become smelly! "I've had my hamster, Rico for about a month and a week. Let me tell you he LOVES the cage, especially the wheel! He loves climbing up the tube that goes into the petting zone, and he never seems to get bored in this thing.
The only disadvantage is that he brings his pine bedding and food up into the Xtreme wheel. Then, when he runs, it goes all over the place. However, Crittertrail was smart by adding that little "tray" underneath underneath the wheel. Even if that doesn't work (it didn't for me), all you have to do is take the top off one of those giant copy paper boxes and put it underneath the cage.
I highly recommend that you buy this cage for any Hamster, Dwarf Hamster, or Mouse. I guess it would be O.K. to buy it for a gerbil, but they have a tendency to gnaw on things a little more. Make sure that if you put your gerbil in this cage, that they have a lot of chew toys, as chew toys are imperative for all rodent pets, but especially gerbils.
My opinion? Overall totally awesome cage :)"

"This cage is actually pretty cool cause the little slide spiral thing but my hamster would never sleep in the little house thing well sometimes. But he would love to sleep in the wheel and store all his food and bedding in it so at night when im trying to sleep it would make me go crazy. Plus, the food would come out of the little holes. So I wouls have to empty it every night which just waste food and a little bedding. But it is pretty easy to clean and everything. But if you hate being kept up all night then this isnt really a good cage."

"I am very disappointed with this hamster habitat. I purchased two cages for two hamsters. They both enjoy "living" in the wheel, along with all of their bedding and food. When the wheel spins, everything comes out of the holes and makes a huge mess on my daughters' dressers. Another problem with this cage is that the doors do not stay closed very well; so we have to use reinforcements to be sure there are no escapes!"

"my hamster was hibernating in the wheel the whole time I had this cage and when he ran in it, it made so much noise because all of his food and bedding had been brought up into it by my hamster pepper a week after I got it the wheel broke and it was just a big mess.
