Poorly Engineered Bike Carrier

We had high hopes for a safe, dependable way to take our 9 pound Havanese on a bike ride. The support bracket attached easily enough to the handlebars of my wife's straight handle bars, but the carrier itself would not fit between the drop handlebars of my bike.
The carrier is recommended for up to 12 pounds, but forget about it. At 9 pounds, after a few bumps of the road or wiggles of the dog, the lower support arm slips down the head tube (vertical tube below the handlebars) and the carrier itself starts rubbing on the front tire.
This is with the dog correctly tethered to the carrier with the attached strap, the dog positioned low in the carrier with the top partially zipped, and the lower arm screws tightened down completely.
So began repeated trials of using the carrier shoulder strap (supposedly to be simply attached side to side on the carrier and run behind the aft end of the head tube) to cinch up the lower support arm and keep it from dropping. Then the weight of the dog (sitting sideways across the front tire) starts tipping the carrier itself as the attachment flange of the carrier handle begins to slip out. So begins another attempt to tie it all down with the strap.
A much heavier support bracket is needed, along with a positive latching system of attaching the carrier to the handlebar support.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

the dog basket works good for our dog, she loves to go riding thru the parkway. Of course she weights only 8 pounds. I don't think this would work for a dog or cat that was much bigger. It is very easy to put together and attach to our bikes. The pockets are a little flimsy, stuff can fall out.

The carrier arrived in about 4 business days and was really cute. I bought it primarily to use on my bike, and it seemed to have a good design for that use.
Unfortunately, I have a tall, ten pound Chihuahua and even though the carrier says it's for pets up to 15 pounds, he was too heavy and it caused the carrier to tip downward when he was placed into it. He didn't like the feeling of hanging off the front and so I returned it to the store.
The store return was easy and convenient.

It says its for dogs upto 15 pounds. I have a Chahuahua mix and he's only 7 pounds and he did not fit. I think this was made for the shortest fatest dog in the world.
