Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula

"I have a 10 1/2 year old Australian Shepard who has had allergy problems his whole life. When he was young, we went through a variety of foods after allergy shots made all of his hair fall out. We tried the alternate source protein prescription foods such as fish, potato, venison, kangaroo, and everything else. It wasn't until we found a vegetarian formula (Nature's Recipe) that he showed improvement. About nine months ago, I went into a Petco to buy more food when I was incorrectly told that Nature's Recipe was no longer making the vegetarian forumula and they suggested I try Natural Balance. Even with the vegetarian food, he still had chronic ear problems, with bad allergy flare-ups 4-5 times a year. This almost always resulted in a steroid shot and antibiotics. Since Marley has been on the Natural Balance, he has not had a single allergy problem. His belly no longer shows any hot spots, and his ears have remained perfectly pink instead of always having one with a problem. He also doesn't chew or lick on his paws like he has always done. I am convinced this particular vegetarian formula has taken care of my dog's allergy problems and I highly recommend it. While it is more expensive than everything else you can buy, I have not paid for any shots or antibiotics in about nine months, so I have come out way ahead. This is a great product!"

"I recently acquired a 3 yr old smooth collie. He had repeated intestinal distress issues, even though we were provided a new bag of his "sensitive stomach" food. Constant scratching, severe gas, and diarrhea. Even on rice and lean ground beef, the gas was horrific. Vet recommended cottage cheese and rice which did clear up most of the issues. Tried the Vegetarian formula and it's like a new dog! No gas, no itching, no diarrhea. Very pleased and he likes it too!"

"I am vegetarian, and wanted my dogs to be the same. After much research on the subject, I found that it is perfectly healthy and acceptable for dogs to live on a vegetarian diet, so I went with this food. Prior to this food, one of my dogs was a very picky eater, but he loves this stuff just as much as my other dog. There coat is nice and beautiful. I had my dad watch my dogs while I was out of town, and he fed them Iams food, and their stool became very loose and runny. That is no longer an issue now that they are back on the Natural Balance veggie formula."

"I feed my dogs Natural Balance products but my corgi/aussie mix started to get that stomach gurgle every now and then....I mixed this in with the other flavors, duck, salmon and venison, so he would get a little more fiber in his diet. I also feed him smaller amounts 4 times a day instead of 2 times a day. This works like a charm.
I highly recommend this if you have a gurgling problem in your house !! Good health to you and your dogs !!!"

"We own an American Bulldog who had terrible allergies. We tried everything from steroid injections to antihistamines. Nothing seemed to keep him from scratching at his eyes and ears. He was so itchy he would make himself bleed from the scratching! Turns out he was allergic to wheat gluten and meat products, which happens to be in almost every dog food. We found Natural Balance vegetarian formula online and decided it was worth a shot. Turns out it was the best decision we ever made! Not only does he love the taste, he has completely stopped itching and looks great! We now have a happy and healthy dog."

"This food was a God Sent!! My dog seems to be allegric to everything!!! When I was told he could not have anything with any kind of meat, fish, chicken, etc.....

"I have a 2 year old Poochon who is the most finicky eater I have ever run across. He won't even eat eggs. I have tried several of the highest rated national brand dry dog foods. He only ate them when he was really hungry. I happened accross a bag of Natural Balance. I was skeptical at first but he was interested from the moment it hit his bowl. "My dogs normally eat Evolution vegan dog food. I ran out of it, so I bought some of this food to fill the gap. My Beagle will eat this if she's very hungry and it's flavored with something else. My Treeing Walker Coonhound really does not like this food (which is odd because she eats anything) and more or less won't eat it."

"I have two dogs, a australian shepherd/chesapeake bay retriever mix male, and a Shih Tzu male puppy. Both are great dogs, so sweet, loving, and affectionate, plus they are so cute, very handsome fellas. They have been eating vegetarian food since I have had them, and they look and are so healthy. Because I don't know if either or both of them have wheat allergies, I would definitely get this brand of food, Dick Van Patten's wheat free vegetarian food for them, because they are a woman's best friend, and great companions, and deserve to be treated as loyal and loving beings."

"I have a 8 year old golden retriever that is allergic to all meat products. Of course it took us 2 years to figure this out. Zoe has been on every diet imaginable. This is the only vegatarin dog food I have found that does not cause any allergic symptoms."

"I highly recommend this food for those who want to give their animal companions a healthy/cruelty-free diet. My dog Lilli is a vegetarian as I believe it's a healthier diet. However, early on I found out she also has a sensitive stomach, one that cannot tolerate a meat diet. Many told me that you cannot sustain a healthy diet for your dog with vegetarian food. You can with Dick Van Patten Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula. Lilli has been a healthy, thriving vegetarian for over 7 years now. Her coat looks great, her inner life is healthy, she loves the taste, her weight is kept down and she has never had any serious health problems (knock on wood). This is a great product. "I was very impressed by one of the employees knowledge on the dog food I was interested in getting . You see, my family eats organic and would only want the best for my new chocolate lab baby as well. The girl who assisted me at the West Farms Mall location in CT showed me what would be a perfect match for the specifics I had for my dog. When I went home and followed her guidance I saw my new 9 week old Chocolate Lab so much happier with the Vegetarian dry food mixed with the duck and potato dry food. He is soooooooooooo happy we switched from IAMS which is all byproducts . YUCK!!!!!! Thank THE LORD for NATURAL BALANCE, now our dogs could live longer and healthier happier lives. "This stuff is fantastic! Our almost 10 year old pointer mix has had bad digestion problems ever since we got her at six weeks old. Her energy level had decreased rapidly over the last couple of years (she has always been fit and loves to run). Her stools were often loose and peculiar looking. And there was lots of gas. I also have had to bathe her infrequently due to so many skin issues, and she would smell bad not long after her bath in expensive dog shampoo from the vet. I did a lot of research before I tried Natural Balance Vegan. All the necessary proteins are there without the animal proteins that were apparently creating all the problems and allergic reations for our dog. She acts like she's no more than 3 years old, keeps up with our 2 year old dog, will chase the tennis ball all day if you throw it, and her belly doesn't turn red, her ears are healthier and she's put on a few pounds that she had lost and really needed back. Her old food she would just sniff the bowl and go get in her bed. I just mention "Hungry" and she comes running and has a bite before the scoop lands in her dish. Natural Balance Vegan has really turned her life around.Her skin and coat don't smell bad between regular baths and no more skin flaking. And the gas is just about non-existent, which alone is worth the switch. Her stools are normal now also. Our little dog (chihuahua-pug mix) loves it too, she never had any issues with the old food but this stuff does so well for the big dog, it's got to be good for the little dog."
