Great for chinchillas

My chinchillas get timothy hay normally, but I give them small amounts of meadow grass and alfalfa as well. This is good hay with lots of leaves. It does have a lot of thicker stems that go to waste with my chins (other animals might eat the stems but mine don't want anything to do with them). A good value if it isn't the main source of food,as the bag is a bit small.

While we buy this for our herd of rescue guinea pigs, I primarily use this straw as the basis for my live daphnia cultures. These cultures produce enough to feed all of my fish AND my various aquatic newts. Great price, great product, especially for those that cannot get safe grasses and straws for free.

my Chinchillas LOOOOOVE it, before I even put it in the cage they try to jump on it. But, the petco out here in Mcminnville never seems to have it.

Not The Best

My dutch rabbit loved this when she was a bunny but as she got older, it began to upset her tummy so she constantly had diarrhea. I read somewhere that alfalfa can cause upset tummies in older rabbits. So I guess you can buy this for your bunnies, but in the end, it's just best to buy Timothy hay.

Not bad for Alfalfa

I got this when my guinea pig had babies, becuase i read that Alfalfa is better then timothy for them.
There are a lot of big thick stems that none of them would eat, and a lot of the leafy parts were broken up so fine that they were like dust. The peices that were not too small and not too big they liked though. They still prefered the timothy hay though.
If you need Alfalfa then i guess it's ok, but I'm sticking with timothy.

Our rabbits won't eat anything else. We were giving them timothy hay, and then got a bag of this, but when it ran out they wouldn't touch the timothy anymore! It's also helped with our larger rabbits hairballs.
