"We have a Houdini German Shepherd pup who was recently spayed. We were instructed to wear the Dr. Mengele's plastic collar for 14 days. The plastic collar lasted less than 24 hours as my dog managed to get it off and chew the thing to pieces after being left unsupervised in her crate for 5 minutes. She could not sleep in the plastic collar, bumped into everything and left some marks on the kids as she charged into them like a battering ram.
We didn't want to waste spending money on new collars for the dog. We found the comfy cone and it has worked like a charm. The dog enjoys sleeping with her own carry around pillow. While it does restrict her vision, she's currently leashed for walks and the outdoors, so it's not an issue. I highly recommend this over the plastic cone alternative as it does work well for large dogs."
