Good! Date: December 12, 2008
"This is an awesome product! I use it for my two frogs and it works perfectly. It is very absorbent, so you need to keep it moist though. The only problem that I have with it is that you have to soak it for a long time in water so that it loosens up (it comes in brick), which takes forever and is messy. But other than that, it is a good choice."

PERFECT substrate! Date: November 2, 2008
"OMG, this substrate is just perfect! Keeps the humidity in, lasts long (you don't need to use that much, you get a lot in a little bit!) it's a good price, & stays damp long. My hermit crabs love it, & find digging in it easily!"

Great Substrate for Hermit Crabs Date: July 31, 2008
"I've found that Eco Earth makes a very good substrate for hermit crabs. It is much better than gravel or calcium sand as a main substrate, because it allows the hermit crabs to easily dig underground to molt, which is vital to their well-being. Eco-Earth also has a nice appearance and is reasonably inexpensive. I highly recommend this product."

a little goes a long way Date: July 20, 2008
"This product is a really good substrate for the bottom of a cage as long as you are going to put something else over it. It kept sticking to my frogs really bad so I had to put bark over the top of it. After that it worked really good at keeping the humidity up and it didn't get on my frogs as much. You get a good value for your money because it swells up so much that you don't need much of it!"

"I bought four bricks for my fifty five gallon tank thinking I would need all four to cover it but it expands so much I only needed two bricks to cover the bottom. It looks great and it was a good deal."

Great Date: January 27, 2008
"My pac man frogs just love this bedding. They love to burrow themselves in it. It can dry out if the light is really warm, but they should be sprayed daily anyway, so its not a big issue."

Great Stuff Date: January 20, 2008
"I just got two Fire-Bellied Toads about a week ago. I put a bag of HydroBalls on the bottom and some of this on top of the HydroBalls. The HydroBalls are made of clay so they hold water and then the Eco Earth helps hold the humidity. Plus, the brick may look like it doesn't have much of the Eco Earth but I filled a medium-sized container that holds about 5 gallons 3/4 of the way. So it will last me a while. All in all a great buy! Totally love this item."

The best stuff ever!!! Date: October 23, 2007
"I whent to florida (longboat key) over the past week. I caught a couple of lizards. At first they were extremly skittish and were scared of everything, but this all stopped when i got this dirt. My lizards are really happy and have a lot of fun chasing the crickets and fruit flies around in the dirt."

"I bought this stuff for my hermit crabs. First of all it wreacked, second of all after a few weeks it began to mold over. It was soooooo gross. I had to move my crabs into another cage. Do NOT try this stuff."

"My skink seems to love this bedding! He digs around in it, and it seems a lot cleaner than soil. I am surprised by how much you get in one brick! I didn't even need to buy two. It also stays nicely moist, and does not smell bad."

Who knew a brick of dirt would be so good Date: December 9, 2006
"ok, first of all, Blue tongue Skinks are ARID reptiles!! that means Desert...
Anyway...This is a brick of dirt but once you mix with water you get so much friggin bang for your buck. This stuff lasts forever, and it totally represents the wildness that your forest-dwelling reptile came from. Great for frogs, geckos, turtles and any TROPICAL/FOREST reptile..."

A Great Product Date: November 20, 2006
"I got this substrate for my crested gecko, and it works like a charm! I like everything about it. The stuff was so cheap for how much you get! It gives tropical terrariums like mine a cool realistic nature-ish look. It also keeps the tank pretty humid which is good for my little Giggles. And its eco friendly!!! This product rocks my socks:)"

AMAZING! Date: August 8, 2006
"As a petco employee, I was amazesd to see that we carried this product, I have used this for many years, it is great! animals can not get impacted if they eat any of it, and it gives a nice natural look to your enclosure! It is easy to mix, and lasts forever! it is very clumpable if they use the bathroom on it, and is easily scooped out for easy clean up!"

Buddy loves this stuff! Date: July 16, 2006
"I use this for my Blue Tongue Skink and he loves it. I always keep it moist because if it starts to dry out he will start sneezing, but he spends half his day digging around in it. Sometimes he'll bury himself for a whole day. BUT as I said, make sure it doesn't dry out!!, and don't make it too wet because it'll be cold and heavy."

Eco Earth is great for toads. Date: April 1, 2006
"I have a little Gulf Coast Toad, and he just loves this stuff. Toads like to burrow, and he burrows down into this stuff all day. I am always finding new holes where he has burrowed down. I was using moss before I bought the Eco Earth and he is much happier with the Eco Earth."
