"This is great bedding!!!!!!!!! I have a Siberian dwarf hamster named Matthew, who recently died. But ever since he was little I tried this bedding and it was super easy to walk on for my hamster, easy to get rid of and very absorbent. My hamster died of wet tail. :( When my mom checked his cage it was wet but it absorbed most everything!!!!!!!!! I definitely recommend this to first-timers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Some owners like to use the alternative aspen, but in the end wood shavings are wood shavings. They emit THE odor even if the label says "oil and odor free!" this odor is from the urine small critters make and THAT'S why it's so dangerous. Yes, this is a bit expensive but it's all worth it. It's very absorbent (compared to other beddings) and controls odor really well. plus it's recycled paper and it's very safe for your pet if they were to chew on it. This is a must! Don't be cheap!!"

"I've used this bedding/litter the entire time I've had my pet rabbit. While it IS a little expensive, it works great! It absorbs everything, and hold odors for the most part. My rabbit drinks a LOT of water, so she seems to use the bathroom a lot, therefore, I usually have to change the litter out every two days, which gets pricey.
Regardless of that, this stuff is wonderful, and I will continue to use it. My rabbit also seems to REALLY like it, so that also makes it worth the price. =)"

"I used to have a hairless hamster. When I adopted her, I was informed that carefresh bedding would be the best for her because of her sensitive skin (and no fur to protect her from scratchy beddings!). I purchased the Carefresh Ultra and it was very soft compared to other beddings that I have used in the past. Also, it doesn't lie when it says that it has odor control. I didn't clean the cage near as often as it seems like one should have to because it just never smelled and so I wouldn't think of it (sorry hamster!) So..uh.. I guess if you are a forgetful person like me, maybe this odor control is actually bad-ha. But yeah, I would definitely recommend this bedding for sure! :)"

"I have used Carefresh since I have had my rats. I had two. One passed and the sister is not very well these days. However, when I bought them 2 years ago, I tried both the regular Carefresh litter, which is fine; and, the ultra fresh - white. They loved the brightness of the white and it helped me find out what to clean up each day. Though rats can't see well, they do respond to bright colors. I changed back to Ultra for my rat that is ill and she seems to feel more comfortable with the white litter. It is a bit more expensive, but Petco has some great deals via the internet."

"I ordered saw shavings for my guinea pig Petunia's bedding. When it arrived and I opened the bag and I could not in good conscience let her sleep on something so sharp and rough.
I then ordered Carefresh and not only is it soft, it is very absorbent and traps in odors making her cage odor free."

"I have tried this bedding and it has been really disappointing. I have two guinea pigs, and in a day or two, with this bedding, their cage smell horrible! Also, the white color of this bedding just makes their cage look worse. I would never recommend this product."

"First and foremost, the price for this bedding is absurd in my opinion. The sizes of the packages are not as generous as they should be for what the price tag is. Secondly, with using this bedding even with regular changes/refreshing, it didn't seem to control odors as well as I had hoped. It is certainly absorbent, but for me personally, odor control is also a must. I would not recommend this product at all."

"Its all around, the best. I have 3 mice, Pancake, Peach, and Dotty, and let me tell you, they aren't the cleanest of animals. XD But Carefresh takes care of that. I change it every 2 or 3 days and you can't even tell they are there.
Easy to clean, no dust whatsoever, and my mice love to burrow in it!
I'll never use any other bedding. <3"

"This is the best bedding I've ever bought for my mice. It's absorbent, dust-free, and cuts down on the smell. Most importantly, it is very SAFE for small pets! This brand was recommended to me by a mouse breeder, and I would never go back to using another brand. I have owned mice and hamsters in the past. If you own a small pet, PLEASE DO NOT use wood shavings for their bedding! It can be very harmful to your animal. Use something paper-based, like this product."

"I have a mouse and started him off on this bedding because it is what Petco uses in the store. It made my room smell disgusting. I changed the bedding weekly and it might smell fresh for the first day, but by the second it was back to smelling nasty. I switched him over to Green Pet Aspen Supreme Pellets and never plan to go back. I still add some CareFresh so he has some to nest with, but I change it out every couple of days. Now my room stays smelling fresh :)"

"When this product first came out I bought this for my rat after seeing a demo. But after using the first bag up, I never bought it again. It made my rat stink and he got these orange spots on his skin. I bathed him often, so he wasn't filthy. I switched to pine and I never saw those spots on him again after that. I see other reviews on here, so I am guessing they improved it. But I still wouldn't buy it."

"I was skeptical at first, but I used to get the regular brown Carefresh because it was cheaper.
But I got the Ultra for the first time a few weeks ago and I'll never go back! My rats and gerbils used to get bad poryphin staining every time I changed the bedding because of the dust (it's the blood-looking liquid that they excrete around their nose/eyes due to irritation). But it went away and hasn't come back since! Plus, the Ultra seems softer and smells nicer."
