doesn't work for maltese
Date: November 4, 2009
"It didn't cut the soft maltese hairs. Returning it. The soft hairs clog the blades."

Trim guides fall off
Date: October 30, 2009
"I purchased this clipper so that I could trim my terrier/poodle mix at home. She has very soft fur, and I keep her coat quite short. I was trimming along quite nicely until the trim guide fell off and I ended up shaving a section of her right down to the skin! It happened very quickly, and I was unable to catch myself. That happened 4 times! I had to hold the trim guide on with my fingers to stop it falling off. Maybe if they were made of metal and not plastic it would be better.
The trimmer itself seems to work well, just not the trim guides.

"for a really matted coat - they work, but not well - top pops off continuously - that said, once the worst is over, they're excellent."

Not good for thick hair really
Date: September 9, 2009
"I have a Mini Schnauzer/Yorkie, he has thick hair for the most part, except his belly. It worked great on his belly where the hair was thinner but everywhere else it took several times over one area for it to work. I wouldn't recommend for thicker hair, but for thinner it works great.
I spoke to others who have actually used the brand Andis which has worked very well for them. They're twice as much but work excellent with thick hair. I am returning this to the local Petco and getting an Andis brand."
