doesn't work for maltese

"It didn't cut the soft maltese hairs. Returning it. The soft hairs clog the blades."

Trim guides fall off
Date: October 30, 2009
"I purchased this clipper so that I could trim my terrier/poodle mix at home. She has very soft fur, and I keep her coat quite short. I was trimming along quite nicely until the trim guide fell off and I ended up shaving a section of her right down to the skin! It happened very quickly, and I was unable to catch myself. That happened 4 times! I had to hold the trim guide on with my fingers to stop it falling off. Maybe if they were made of metal and not plastic it would be better.
The trimmer itself seems to work well, just not the trim guides.

a bit expensive for only pretty good

"for a really matted coat - they work, but not well - top pops off continuously - that said, once the worst is over, they're excellent."

Not good for thick hair really
Date: September 9, 2009
"I have a Mini Schnauzer/Yorkie, he has thick hair for the most part, except his belly. It worked great on his belly where the hair was thinner but everywhere else it took several times over one area for it to work. I wouldn't recommend for thicker hair, but for thinner it works great.
I spoke to others who have actually used the brand Andis which has worked very well for them. They're twice as much but work excellent with thick hair. I am returning this to the local Petco and getting an Andis brand."

It cuts the hair!
Date: September 1, 2009
"I have tried others and this one worked great! He has really thick hair that is really hard to cut and leave it even. I took him to agility class and our classmate were impressed"

Don't Waste Your Money!!!
Date: April 21, 2009
"I bought these clippers about 6 months ago and have used them several times. I am now buying a professional set of clippers because THESE DO NOT CUT THE HAIR OF MY SHIH TZUS. The last time I cut them I had no comb attached and my dogs still had over 3 inches of hair left behind. It took over an hour for each dog and they barely looked like any hair had been cut off. I wish I had just gone straight for the professional grade clippers instead of wasting the $60+ on these."

Good clippers for home use
Date: February 11, 2009
"I have clipped my mini schnauzer twice now with these clippers. The first time they worked great and I was really pleased. I wish the kit came with a bit more oil - the instructions state to dip the blade into a shallow dish of oil to get a good cleaning but the tiny tube it comes with would not be sufficient for that. So be sure to buy extra oil from the start!
My pup was scared at first, especially around the head, but once he got used to them he was fine with it. This kit is nice in that it also includes a comb, scissors, and trimming guides (though I won't ever need them). The cleaning brush unfortunately hasn't held up too well since I constantly have to stop and clean the blade out. But a towel works well too.
The second time around clipping my schanuzer the clippers didn't seem to work quite as well. I think part of it was that I did not charge them long enough. Once I plugged it in and used it that way they improved. But the blade also seemed to be clogging a lot more often. Also may be due in part to the fact that the schnauzer hair becomes softer and finer after clipping. I just ordered some clipper oil so I have more to use for cleaning the blade, to see if that will help too. But all in all, this has been very useful and works well and if you can learn how to do it for your breed can save you a lot of money!

Not able to cut it
Date: July 19, 2008
"In spite of all the other positive reviews, these clippers are not up to the task of grooming a bichon frise. The fine soft fur clogs the clippers with one short stroke. I spent 40 frustrating minutes trying to trim the 8-month old puppy.
I had barely a handful of fur to show for my efforts. In the end, the included scissors were more effective at trimming the outer coat. These are a definite "go back" and we will be asking to see what works on the bichon frise breed.

easiest ever to use...
Date: July 6, 2008
"My soft coated Wheaten Terrier puppy was so frightened at his first trip to the groomers, they called me to come and get him without being trimmed. I figured I could do a fair enough job and not traumatize him any further by ordering my own trimmer and doing the job myself. He was not afraid of these Wahl clippers...the cordless feature is so handy, and they do not make noises to scare the dog. I love the 4 sizes of combs...I could feather the hair on his lower body and legs, while keeping his back a shorter trim. The charge lasts about an hour.....long enough to do a good job. I saved money on the very first trim....the clippers were less than one trip to the groomer."

"Clipper works great. The # 2 blade cover broke with the second use, but the machine itself is great. I have 5 foster dogs with me at this tiem - and they now all have professional looking hair cuts. I love the cordless feature."

Excellent Product
Date: May 19, 2008
"I had great hopes for this clipper set after reading the other reviews & was not disappointed! In spite of my long-hair doxie mix's impatience, I managed to give her a pretty good partial haircut on the very first try. A complete haircut took a 2d try to finish her tail, ears & feet. The clipper is quieter than I had expected & the blade attachments work just fine. I do suggest watching the DVD before starting & not just relying on the written instructions as the DVD shows you exactly how to hold the clipper, trim toe fur, etc."

Worked Great!!
Date: April 23, 2008
"I bought this product because I needed some real dog clippers to cut my 2 yr old shih tzu and these actually worked! It cut through his small knots but the bigger ones it was kind of tough but only because he kept moving. Overall, they work great!!"

Excellent Clippers
Date: April 10, 2008
"I have a minature poodle, and two cocker spaniels. Bought these clippers and did a complete cut on all of my pets and they worked like a charm. Usually when I buy clippers, by the time I am ready to cut my third dog they are no longer performing as well if at all. I would recommend these clippers to anyone who asked. Last but not least, the price could not be beat. The day I purchased the clippers they were regular price, I checked next day they were on sale. Called customer service and they immediately credited me with the $10.00 difference. I couldn't be happier. Thanks!"

Pleased with Quality and Operation
Date: April 4, 2008
"I use the clippers on my English Springer Spaniel. She was very shaggy for the winter months. I am new to clipping and my dog's temperment requires extra flexibility and patience.
The clippers are very quiet. They fit my medium woman's hand so well that I can actually twirl the clippers around one-handed to switch directions. Given the extra thick fur, the clippers do get clogged, so I have to clean them off regularly. The dog had some matting behind her ear, taking those off has taken a lot of time switching between scissors and the clippers. Using the clippers cordless is convenient, so far, the clippers stay charged for 45-60 minutes, so I haven't used them with the cord yet because I'm trimming over multiple days.
My dog has viewed our grooming sessions very positively, as attention rather than torture. This is in part due to the quiet and safe operation of the clippers.
The documentation (folded piece of paper in various languages) is sparing. The DVD is pretty good, but you'll need to get a book or find a good website for learning how to trim your dog's breed."

Great buy
Date: March 6, 2008
"I bought this kit about a month ago and used it twice already on my cocker - once to do the entire body and once to do a quick touch-up. Fairly light weight, quiet, and easy to use. I am sure you can get a nicer product if you are willing to spend an extra $1~200, but I personally can't think of what more you look for in a clipper... Definitely worth the money to be able to have a clipper handy and skip a couple of grommer appointments!"

Great clippers
Date: February 23, 2008
"This product worked great on my cocker spaniel. She hasn't had a haircut in months because there are no groomers in Misawa, Japan. Luckily i use to cut her hair before i started to take her to a groomer. I like to have her hair cut short for the summer and to reduce all the shedding. She has a lot of hair that gets on everything. I was able to use the clippers for the whole haircut without turning them off and they didn't overheat."

My first set
Date: January 17, 2008
"My dog, a Golden, gets hot during summer. It's quite expensive to have a professional clip his fur, so I decided to buy this set. It's surprisingly easy to use. My dog was bothered by the sound at first. After he got used to it, he loves shaving."
