Dont bother
Date: November 7, 2009
"I bought this filter as secondary filter on my 55. My main filter is a penguin 350 which sits on one side so I figured this would be good just to get some flow on the other side of the tank. Well even as a support filter this thing is awfull. The filters clog up within a week, it back flows out the top instead of through the filter and the filter media is just as expensive as the penguin media, or more expensive if you get the online deals. I traded this one in for a penguin 200 and the difference is amazing. You can the the difference in the tank in the first hour. It says that the flow rate is 175 gph, there is no way. The only way your getting that is if you run it with no filter. I predict that it is more like 90 - 100. Spend a little more and get a better filter. I wouldnt even run this filter on a fish bowl."

Easy to Use
Date: October 14, 2009
"This product is easy to use when it comes to putting it together. I've not yet set up my tank, so I'll post another review (if I remember..hah) once that part is accomplished. This product shipped quickly, the instructions were self-explanatory, and as a general comparison it is more versatile and cost effective than other brands of filters."

Terrible
Date: May 23, 2009
"I bought this filter the other week after the old one I had broke. I thought I was getting a great deal when this product offered 3 free filters with it but it is not worth it.
The filter will work great for the first couple of days and put out great water flow. Then after about 4 days the water will start getting cloudy! I changed the filter and noticed the water has not bothered to clear up.
I am taking this back and switching to AquaClear."

Not a great filter
Date: March 12, 2009
"Its a good price, but you would have to oversize your filter (get a 20 gallon filter for a 10 gallon tank, etc.) to get decent filtration, and even then I wouldn't reccomend it. The sponge and carbon is not very porous and actually causes backwash out the top of the filter when water is drawn in. I use a 30 gallon filter for my 26 gallon bowfront and I'm replacing it ASAP because my water is getting hazy and dirty. I put in an extra Aqueon filter just to clean it up andits already looking better."

Good, But
Date: February 2, 2009
"I have the Power Filter 65, and have had it about 4 months. I use it in my 29gal. tank. It keeps the tank clean for about 3 weeks. It however is very noisy and the sponge filters smell bad even though i rinse them each time i change the tank. The smell fills the whole room. You can't buy replacement sponges without special ordering them and that makes it anoying."

yuck!
Date: January 10, 2009
"I was told the only thing to change was the carbon filter cartridge...that is true, but the sponge pad also needs to be changed once in a while. I was told that it did not need to be changed because the tank needs the bacteria, but it was just impossible to just rinse it and put it back...the tank kept getting dirty, and the changeing of the carbon cartridge was getting expensive. The stores do not carry the sponge pad, and I needed to special order them. In the long run, it will cost you more to keep this thing running. Plus it is loud."

Nothing Fancy
Date: December 28, 2008
"I bought the filter 30 gal about 3 months ago and not had any major problems. However, I still cannot see a difference when turning the dial to create more/less water filtration. It seems like no matter what way you turn it, it overflows with the filtration and that's frustrating. I've been adding more water to the tank otherwise its pretty noisy when the filter system won't seem to filter less.
Other than that, it does the job.

Poor design
Date: October 6, 2008
"I purchased the power filter 30 about two weeks ago. Already the biological foam has clogged, so that about half the water bypasses the filter media and returns to the tank. I've rinsed the foam a couple of times, but that didn't help. I should have gotten an Aquaclear."

Great Product
Date: September 30, 2008
"I purchased an aquirium kit that came with a Marineland 150 bio wheel filter, which I wasn't satisfied with. I replaced it with the Power 65 filter on my 28 gallon tank. This is a very high quality product for the price. The filter cartridge is huge and contains over 4 ounces of activated carbon. The adjustable flow control is very useful during feedings to avoid pulling food into the filter. The bio falls is a neat addition and I've not seen it cause any performance issues what so ever with my flow rate. I highly recommend this filter and am totally satisfied with my purchase."

Bio-Falls Failure
Date: September 22, 2008
"Pretty average for the price you pay.
If you use the blue Bio-Falls gimmick, it really cuts down on the cleaning power because there is hardly any flow coming out of the powerhead. Which is pointless, because I got this to CLEAN my tank. The Bio-Falls feature does make the watery noise less, though. Glad that part is removable, or it would render the filter gutless. The filter itself seems fairly quiet, too. Anyway, seems to work ok.

Powerful Filter For Great Price!!
Date: September 15, 2008
"This filter is the best I've ever gotten. At first I wasn't so sure about purchasing it because it seemed that the low price would mean a low quality product. I couldn't have been more wrong though. I bought the 65 gallon filter, brought it home and put it in my 55 gallon aquarium a couple hours ago & it cleared up the dirty water faster than I've ever seen a filter work before. Not to mention, I have a red eared slider turtle, that means a BIG mess to clean up in so little time. He likes hanging out underneath the waterfall that it creates, but the water is a bit noisy as it's so low to accommodate the basking docks and such things I have in the aquarium. But if you have fish only then this won't be a problem at all. Also, the adjustable intake tube is more than long enough to reach below my water line, which is something I've been looking for in a filter. I would definitely recommend this filter to anyone with a turtle or fish."
