"This is the best solution that I found for adding a pet door to a Pella slider. Overall very happy with the product and installation. Large-tall works well for our English Foxhounds. It has even stood up to the larger of the dogs (80 lbs) banging into it as he learns. He's also not that graceful. Sigh.
Some thoughts about installation, based on my experience:
1) I needed to make two extra trips to Home Depot, once for L-brackets and screws necessary to install to the frame, and a second time to acquire longer bolts for the latch mechanism, reinforcing plates because the latch mechanism winds up in a really weak part of the door, and a second bolt for extra security. I used larger L-brackets (1.5 or 2") on the top and bottom (one each, where the panel meets the door), then two smaller L-brackets on the side to secure the product to the door frame and keep it from flexing. Make sure that the brackets are small enough so that you don't drill into the glass! Your experience may vary.
2) The weatherstripping isn't quite long enough. I need another half foot or so for the top. It also will need to be caulked or weathersealed on the side against the door frame, as air still comes in around it.
3) The rubber air seal strip/sweep is a challenge to install on this particular model of door. I would suggest installing it as a first step. Not sure how I am going to do this without removing the panel.
All that being said, I wish that it was a touch sturdier, and that it was offered with double-pane glass. Those two minor complaints aside, it has been a really good purchase.
And like all other new things, make sure you give your pets time to adjust to it."

"Our three kitties love to go out in our patio area, but when we were not home,this was not an option. Now we do not feel so guilty when we go on vacation, because they do not have to be cooped up in the house until their sitter arrives. They were a little leary of the door flap but gradually got used to it. It was not too difficult to install and looks nice."

"I had been considering a doogie door for my storm door, but instead got this for my slider door. I was worried about it restricting the rest of the door opening, but it's not a problem. I put it in the screen section of the slider, because I leave the glass portion open most of the time. It is a single panel glass so I won't use it in the winter months,, but then I have to push the dog out the door then anyways. I had to help him through the door a few times with treats on the other side of the door. On the bottom side of the flapper door there is a spring loaded plate that the flapper magnets catch, I had to tape it down because the clinking noise it made when the flapper was swinging scared my dog. But after I taped it down, he had no problem."

"This door is not for anyone who lives in a cool climate, single pane glass w/aluminum framing. Also if you have a standard 1 1/2" vinyl double pane sliding glass door there is no way to securly lock this door."

"I bought this for my cats to use. It is, however, almost too small for my larger cat (but he's pretty big for a cat). It wasn't difficult to put together, but I am wary of drilling into the existent door to install the locking mechanism, so I haven't done that part yet. I also currently have the metal for the magnetic seal taped down, because it was very loud whenever the flap was opened, and the cats refused to go near it. They are using it now, though."

"This door was the best thing i spent my money on. Keeps my mom from having to get up all the time to let the dog out. he loves being outside and he always has to come in and check on things then go back out. Mom was getting so mad. It took me 30 minutes to install the door and train my fox terrier to go through it. I know cause I did it on my lunch hour. Now when my sister comes to visit with her Maltese he loves it just as much and learned just as fast to go through it. He was even going out on his own without my dog."

"The "large" is more for a medium dog. My 65 lb golden retriever barely fits through the door. The door would definitely not fit a 100 lb dog nor does it look as big as the picture makes it look."

"Thank you for the oppertunity to review the Deluxe Patio Panel Pet Door. I'm affraid you will not like my opinion. The panel installed very easily. The glass above and below the pet door opening are great. The flap of the door is INADEQUATE, cold air pours in from the sides of the door. The magnets are not strong enough to hold the door closed, wind easily blows the flap open. The bottom closing bar freezes down during freezing rain."

"We have 3 small dogs and getting up and down all day long letting them in and out was driving me totally insane. This door is the best thing since sliced bread. I have recommended it to everyone I know with a dog. I was hesitant to purchase the door because of the looks, it LOOKS GREAT and my dogs LOVE IT."

"We installed the door in August (so summer time in Michigan). We were happy with it except for the fact that the black sweeper doesn't stick at all, and the weather strip wasn't long enough. But once it started getting cold we soon changed our opinion of the product. The window is single pane and not insulated. Copndensation forms on the window, runs down to the flap door and freezes the door shut. We have ice build up on the inside of the unit - not good!! I have to stuff towels between the door where the black sweep is suppose to go to try and keep out the cold air which makes the the patio door totally useless. If you live somewhere you don't experience cold winters then I would recommend otherwise, it's a waste of money. We will be tearing it out this spring - it is not energy efficent at all!!"

"This was the best find ever. We adopted a 4 month old dog and have 2 already house-trained dogs at home. The puppy just followed the older dogs every time they went out to go potty and did what they did. This was the quickest house-training ever. Now they go in and out as they want and we save money on heating and cooling because we're not opening and closing the door several times a day."

"Mom bought us this cool door so we don;t have to bother her 100 times a day to go outside. We won't let any animals in the yard let alone in the house so she doesn't have to worry about anything getting in the house. She closes it at night and then we know it's time to sleep but she leaves it open when she goes shopping We know it was easy to install because if mom can do it anyone can. Thanks mom we love it. "I bought the small one at the store for my toy poodle and chihuahua, but it was a little too small, I returned it and order the medium on-line last month. It came quickly and in better shape than the one at the store. Lucy (the Chi...) learned to use the door right away. Misty the (Podd....) however, is more stuburn, so needs help I lift the door a little and she is in or out. It is sturdy and strong. Very good product."

It gives them freedom to go in and out all year long. I do not screw
mine in. This allows me to move it to the screen door track in good
weather when I like the glass door open and the screen door closed. I
can install this door from track to track in less than a minute. Great

"With 3 mid-sized dogs tearing in and out of the pet door, we had initially purchased a pet door from Home Depot, and had to replace the plastic door flap at least every 4 months.
I finally bought the PetSafe door, and it's wonderful. The dogs still dive in and out of the door, and the flap has held up beautifully. It's also pretty energy efficient."
