Change in formula
Date: September 14, 2009
"I've been using this cat litter for years and have always loved it -- until the last time I purchased it. The box I just received says "new ammonia block formula with baking soda crystals." This was a terrible idea! The litter now has an unpleasantly sweet, chemical smell and the smell is so strong that it doesn't leave my cats coats. It also seems like the new litter sticks to their paws more and they are tracking litter all over the apartment. This never happened before. I really hope they go back to the old formula. In the meantime, I'll try the unscented version and hope that it's better!"

Huge Waste Of Money
Date: June 28, 2009
"Had to completely change the litter in less than 3 days. The very next day after cleaning, sanitizing and filling with Super Scoop the entire 1200 sq foot apartment smelled like a back-alley dumpster. The stench was unbearable. Scooping it out did not help at all- just stirred up and released more odor! And the clumps did not hold together very well- just kept crumbling and slipping through the scooper. We have one tiny cat who is very healthy and on the same high-end diet for 2 years now. The only logical explanation is that this product is inadequate. Just changed the litter again yesterday and I'm sitting in this horrid stench right now. The 14 Lb box I bought one week ago is already empty and the last of it will be in the trash by tomorrow afternoon. And the instructions on the box recommend changing it out ONCE A MONTH? If I were to wait that long I'd probably be getting evicted! If I want to completely dump the litter twice a week then I might as well buy a 25 Lb bag of Johnny Cat for two bucks, but this garbage was $8.99 and it's gone already! What a waste!"

"Maybe I have a clean kitty. My husband was weary about getting a cat because of smells. I insisted that cats were the cleanest animals. We usually have to tell visitors that we have a cat. We clean the litter everyday. I did find that when my daughter fed human food to Moka, her fesces and urine did smell stronger. If fed only cat food, there is absolutely no smell. pet owners should really test that with the pets."

I will never buy another litter than Super Scoop
Date: November 17, 2008
"I have three cats and two litter boxes. There is never an odor from the litter and it has excellent clumping abilities. Over the years I have tried others, and have found that my oldest cat will not use other litters, and I have no idea how he knows the difference. Therefore, to prevent accidents, I will never buy any other litter other than Arm and Hammer Super Scoop. The unscented is nice, but the scented product has a very pleasing scent. As far as my kitties are concerned, this is the best litter ever!"

Stinky
Date: October 2, 2008
"I don't know if all scented litters are this bad but if they are I don't know why they even bother selling them. The scent is AWFUL. It actually makes the litter box smell worse. I use the unscented version of this and bought the 'fresh scent' version because the store didn't have unscented....I will never re-purchase this. As far as clumping, it does the job pretty well."

Doesn't conceal odors
Date: August 6, 2008
"I scoop twice a day and only have one cat, and yet this litter still gets stinky within days. I was using a highly perfumed litter before and decided I wanted something that didn't leave my cat smelling like perfume, but now my litter box corner stinks. I found that I have to use half of this litter plus half of the perfumed litter to reach a nice balance.
The scooping is pretty good, occasional I find some broken clumps, but it's not a big problem.

Excellent
Date: May 17, 2008
"This is a great litter--low tracking and I've had absolutely no problems with clumping as other reviewers have written. Also, I have the litter box in a small bathroom and with A&H it smells fresh and clean all the time. My cat likes this litter and so do I -- we're not switching again!"

So-So
Date: October 17, 2007
"I bought this product with recommendation from a friend with 4 cats. I have 2.. they immediately used it no problem with the switch over. The smell.. was better.. not completely masked as I'd like it to be but good enough.
I went to clean out the litter box with a hand scooper and it was like every other "clump" would fall apart.
Some of them stuck.. some crumbled up and blended with the unsoiled litter, pretty frustrating.
Overall the product is ok, not great not bad just ok.

Worst litter I've ever used!
Date: October 15, 2007
"I was very excited to try arm and hammers litter since I use the baking soda for odor. I was very! disappointed with the clumping action, it was like it didn't even clump at all. Everything fell apart as I was trying to scoop it out. And I also noticed that if you use their little and their baking soda for odor control the clumping action gets worse (if that's possible). I do not recommend this at all and will never buy it again. :("

Arm & Hammer Litter

"I have two cats, a boy & a girl that share one litter box & this is the ONLY litter I buy! I prefer fragrance free & so do my cats, but the fresh scent is just as good. It clumps, scoops & controls odor great. Its economical too!"

Not a bad option, but not the best
Date: September 7, 2007
"I've tried most of the common brands of cat litter. This is one of three or four I'd recommend, though it is not at the top of the list. It does control odor well as long as it stays fresh-- I found that if I scoop daily and add another layer of litter daily, I do get that baking soda odor killing action going on.
As other reviewers have pointed out, it doesn't clump the best, but it's acceptable if you're using a hand scooper. When I switched to an automatic litter box, the lack of clumping was preventative.
My cats do seem to like it a bit more than I do.
Overall, I think I get better results from a different litter and a sprinkle of A&H deoderizer."

Arm & Hammer Cat Litter
Date: June 26, 2007
"I can not understand previous posters that are not satisfied with this product. I have found it to be the "best", I have ever tried. I have a rather large 18lb. Main Coon adult cat. I first tried the Arm & Hammer product but wanted to try out other products for comparison. I tried several including "Fresh Step " and "Cat's Pride". Their is a definate differance when they advertise "Scoopable" and "Clumpable". The other's all failed my test and they broke apart when cleaning the pan, which I do sometimes twice a day. The Arm & Hammer will tightly clump. I went back to their product !.. My cat also likes the smell and product ! ..I hope this helps other future buyers of this fine product."

"i have experienced clumping issues as well, but that's always been if the waste is freshly made. i clean my little monster's box every day so i don't have any experiences with offensive odors.

The best litter we've found
Date: February 11, 2007
"I was surprised to read the other reviews - the Arm & Hammer Super Scoop is the ONLY litter we've tried that doesn't smell terrible after a while, even with regular scooping. There are better batches and worse batches of this litter, but the vast majority of the time it clumps hard and stays together better than any other litter. Sometimes we buy other brands (Costco brand, Tidy Cat) because they are on sale, but we always regret it and come back to this stuff."

My Kittens Love This Litter
Date: January 22, 2007
"I have two 7 month old kittens (siblings). This is the best litter and their multi-cat formula is just as good. I use it combined with A&H Deoderizer and have never had a problem. I agree that the clumps can be wet at times and stick to the scooper, but a quick thump on the side of the litter pan seems to dislodge it. My kitties seem to like it to. After their claw surgery - we used Yesterday's News - and the cats urinated away from the box. Since returning to the A&H brand - they have been good little buggers."

Don't get this litter
Date: January 4, 2007
"This litter is awful. It stops deodorizing after the first few days and it's got the worst clumping action of any litter I've ever used including the cheap Jonny Cat stuff. Whenever I try to scoop liquid waste, it breaks apart into a thousand pieces and leaves huge clump wads on the scooper. Pass on this one."
