I bought this cage for my son's pet rat. It was an emergency because he had chewed through his other cage and we needed one fast! Not only did we receive this cage three days after ordering it, but it is an excellent cage. It was a snap to put together. It's sturdy, huge, and best of all...completely chew proof!!! There is enough room in this cage for atleast two or three adult rats. My son loves that there is a complete second level floor for his rat to play on, instead of just all half shelves. I wish I had done my homework before buying the first cage we got which cost almost twice as much, and it was much smaller and had a lot of plastic parts. There is so much more room for extra toys for him to play with. My son is thrilled! Thanks so much for not charging the shipping that other stores charge that double the price. I will definetly recommend this cage to all his friends mothers who are know contemplating a rat for a pet! ;)

I purchased this cage at our local Petco and the cage was broken so I decided to order online. Well the the first cage was lost and Petco did not notify me, I had found out myself. But they replaced the cage with no issues *yay*, well when I get the cage I go to put it together and yet again pieces are broken! I returned it to our local Petco and got something worth the money that I know will work without issues for our sugar gliders.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When the product arrived at my house the box was torn, and part of the wrapping and cage was protruding from them box. When assembling it it took longer than it should have because of the way it was delivered (they tossed it around, a few of the hooks were bent wrong). BUT after assembling it, it's WONDERFUL! My rat absolutely loves it. It's large enough to put a running wheel in it and other nifty toys for my son's rat to play with. He has plenty of room to run around, climb, and explore.
It's not as heavy as it looks, it durable, and safe. I would recommended this product, but he only issue I had was with the delivery. They weren't mindful of it. But the product itself is a wonderful accessory!

When we first got the cage it was a little beat up but still very good, my fiance put up the outside first (do not do that) once we fixed it all together its not very hard to do if you just think a little before putting it together, we have 1 large rat in the cage but would still have room if it had 3 for comfy living, only bad part is it didnt come with a water bottle and you can only put a certain type of water bottle in there which was kind of hard to find.

1. Ease of clean-up even if your furry kid isn't into potty-training, since everything falls straight to the bottom for convenient maintenance. Luckily, our little girl has always been very clean and has adjusted to her new home's potty just fine. (We've just upgraded her to the gorgeous 5' tall $250.00 Critter Nation Double Unit)
2. Ease of play! Our girl is allowed full free roam of the room her habitat is in, and one thing I miss about this unit is the extreme ease with which she was able to scale up and down and swing about the exterior of the unit, something she can't do with her new, much more formidable 5' tall home, since there are metal bars along the edges and corners that make swinging on her tiny paws rather difficult - will need to incorporate ladders and such to make the new unit's exterior less intimidating a playground for her. The Petco unit's construction is entirely comprised of metal wires, making this jungle gym ideal for rat play.
PS: Yes, I realize that rats should never live alone. We adopted her as another San Franciscan's lone pet, and are looking into getting her a playmate from RattieRatz, a NorCal rat rescue organization, soon. :)

Tricked into purchasing 4 rats for a science fair project I was truly unprepared for what I was getting into. Through much research I found this product and got it b/c of the great reviews. The girls really love it! My one and only complaint is that while hanging on the side of the cage they will occasionally defecate or urinate and it goes all over the place. We've worked with this, placing a cover underneath that we change with the bedding. It isn't a huge deal, but wasn't something we were ready for. It seems sturdy enough, we did have to do some reinforcement with the wires, bending them to make it hold together stronger, but, not that big a deal. All in all they are so much happier than before. I love that they crawl all over it and look like they're having a good time! For the price you really can't complain about the small things, however, this is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. :)

Well made, and made specifically for rats.
This is home to our two young sibling male rats. They enjoy running up and down the ramps. There should be enough space for them as they get older and start acting lazier, but we are considering buying another and joining the two to double the square footage.
Nice two-door access.

This is an excellent cage for rats. It provides plenty of room for them to play and the horizontal wire makes climbing easy. It's easily assembled and very sturdy. It allows for versitility since you can use only the shelves and ladders you wish to use. I left off the bottom ladder to provide an entire floor of uninterupted space since they can easily jump up to the second level. The only improvement needed is that the shelves and ladders are easily disassembled by rambunctious rats! :) Easy fix though, a couple zip ties later and it was good to go. Overall, an excellent cage!

I have many PET rats as I take in rescues. These cages are difficult to clean, Access is a challenge, the pans are nice and deep but horrible to lock on to the bars.. I had 3 of these cages, 2 I purchased new and 1 was donated to me.. I gave them ALL away.. Buy a Critter Nation or a Martins and you'll be much happier.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I got this for Christmas from my dad and I was excited just to get a nice big cage for my two female rats. When I set it up and got it ready, I was impressed. My girls absolutely love it and I do too. There's plenty of room for them both, and there's enough room to get them a new cage mate too! I love the levels and the wire because it's easy for them to climb on and it's easy for them to get a hold of. In all, this is a great cage for multiple rats!
Another thing I love is that the metal pan will be easy to clean out every week. I just love the whole thing!

I recently bought a male dumbo rat and needed a habitat that would give him enough room to live in. This cage is truly a good one. It has enough room for me to put an igloo, a wheel, a hammock, toys and his feeding dish. Now I have to say that I only have one rat at this time but it has enough room to fit two rats just fine. I did cover the mesh floors though so my baby doesn't get bubble foot. The doors could be a bit bigger however they aren't stopping me from doing what I need to do. If you want a good cage that is reasonably priced then you should give this one a try.

I bought this cage over a year ago and it is still going strong. Only issue I've had is one of the bars snapped at the welding, but a dab of super glue fixed that. Then a bit of the wiring came undone on the middle shelf, again a dab of super glue fixed that issue.
The base hasn't rusted, despite being soaked in the tub for some cleanings either, which is usually an issue with metal cages.
I have several boys housed in it and they all have plenty of space to stretch out, along with room for toys. They've got a few wood perches, dangling bird toys with bells, hammocks, a tunnel... plenty of space to deck it out.
It's large so moving it around for cleaning can be a little awkward, but its worth it for the amount of space it gives my boys.
Overall I highly recommend this cage. It's a good price, it holds up better then a lot of cages I've used, it provides plenty of space, while not being so large you have to make a tremendous amount of room for it.
Get this for your ratties and they'll be happy :)

I got this for my two female rats, And it suits them just fine, Even if it does have somewhat small doors you can get over that, It was pretty simple to put together, You can move where the two smaller platforms are quite easily

I was surprised that I ordered it on a thursday and got it on a saturday-just 1 day, and I didn't request express shipping, it just happened that way!
The cage was fairly easy to put together, and looks just like the picture on the site! I added a wheel, some toys, water bottle and food dishes, and there's still room for the rat! Plenty of room! I'm very happy with my purchase.

I have 3 fancy rats (all female) and they love the different levels! I really like that there is a solid base bottom to put bedding into and that the middle level is a full level. There's plenty of room for their big wood house and exercise wheel as well as plenty of toys on each level. There is even room for a hammock in the top corner.
Putting it together wasn't that difficult if you just follow the directions. The top can be easily removed to clean out the base and my ladies don't mind the grate floors on the upper levels. You can also move the ladders to what best suits your pets (I actually removed the bottom ladder all together because it was getting in the way and they just jump up to that first level without the ladder anyway. I love how much you can customize this cage and would definitely recommend it to anyone with multiple rats!

My two rats loved this cage, but it takes a long time to clean. The levels are mesh, which is hard on their feet, so I had porcelain tiles cut to fit. Every week I had to take out the tiles and wash them, and also take out the mesh levels/ramps and wash those because their urine & feces would get crusted onto the mesh. Since the rats often peed and pooped on the upper levels instead of in the litter, the cage would start smelling after only a couple days. It took 1 1/2 hours to thoroughly clean the whole cage. I finally bought a one-level cage, which may have less square footage, but it only takes ten minutes to clean and smells nicer so it preserves my sanity. Also when I assembled it the bottom door latch was slightly warped, so I had to bend it back with pliers.
