"I bought this because the price was right -- originally $89.99, on sale for $45.99 -- and we were looking to get our cavies a new home. They had been living in a 30 gallon glass aquarium, but my wife was concerned about the glass aquarium's lack of ventilation and lack of space.
The cage was easy to put together, but the flip side to quick-no-tools-required assembly is that the pieces can be cheap. In the process of putting the cage together, two of the platform holders snapped. Luckily I had plenty of those plastic cable zip-ties you use to organize electrical cords. But if I did not, then the cage could not have been assembled properly. You could already see stress areas and weak points in the plastic ramp when I put everything together. Not very impressive worksmanship.
The cage is MUCH more roomy than the old 30-gallon aquarium. The surface area of the bottom is nearly double. There is PLENTY of room for two cavies, even though they don't really use the ramp and second level (other than as a hideout underneath). The plastic bottom basin is easy to clean, and the whole habitat is aesthetically pleasing. I personally prefer glass aquaria to wire cages, since the whole habitat and the cavies in it are readily visible from all angles. Glass also IMO looks cleaner, but I have to admit that the cage is nice looking. It is also much lighter than the glass aquarium was, even without the wheels.
Overall I am satisfied with this cage. It was worth the sales price, especially with free shipping. The girls rave about it. As I said, though, the worksmanship seems a bit shoddy. Then again, what can one expect from plastic fasteners that are applied manually with no tools? I would NOT recommend the cage at full price, but it was reasonable for the sales price."
