"I bought this for my dwarf hamster bitsy so that when i am cleaning her cage she has a place to run freely but still be enclosed. I was glad i bought it! It is great and my hamster loves it! The only problem is that it is hard to connect things like wheels and the water bottle to it! the good thing is because the bars are horizontal my hammy cant get out! it is a great product. :)"

"It was a spring afternoon not too hot or cold. I decided to take my two 1/2 year old boar guinea pigs.I was watching them and good thing i was because Wiggles hens the name backs up and jumps right over the pen. It was out side and i found myself chasing the pig and finally caught him in tears. He is safe at home but PLEASE dont buy this"

Exercise for you and your pet

"Great idea, but not too practical. It takes only 5 to 15 minutes for our mice to figure out how to climb to the top. That's if they've never seen it before -- on a second try they remember right away. Once they've mastered this, no matter how many toys we put inside climbing is the most fun activity. When there are two of us on either side we can scoop them up and put them back, but after awhile we get tired before the mice do! I wish they made a playpen that has solid sides."

"I got this for my hamster Trixie and the first thing I didn't like about it was it looks bigger in the picture than it actually is. The second thing I didn't like about it was that her nail made a hole in the mat. The third is that she almost escaped from it. I took it back to the store a week later. Anyone who gets this product shouldn't put it on carpet because thats how she made a hole in it. I don't recommend it though."

Gerbils will climb if it is low to the ground

"I bought this for my two gerbils to have a supervised play area. They loved it, and the lazy one has not had a problem, but the spunkier of the two learned to do little gerbil pull-ups right over the top.
He only does this when it is on the ground, though.
I currently have two dressers pushed together with a Crittertrail 3 connected to this playpen. Since it is higher off the ground and the cage is large enough, they no longer climb out."

"This product is great, i have a short haired hamster who loves it! and its great to put toys for him to play in. but over about an hour of him playing in it, he figured out how to climb over it and jump out. Besides that its a great product!"

"I bought two of these for my Dwarf hamsters, and they work really well. I can definitely see how this product might not work well for the much larger Syrian hamsters. But it has proven to be completely escape proof for my dwarf hamsters. It is heavier than it looks and they are not strong enough to budge it.
I have had problems with my hamsters chewing up the green mat that comes with it. I dont think it is toxic, but I will obviously need to replace it eventually.
There is a slot that will let you attach Hamster tubes to it (it is compatible with crittertrail and Ovo products). I like the product so much that I have given my hamsters permanent access to it...it is basically like an extension of their cage now."

Great Concept but....

"My hamster climbed that in no time flat! I tried many different objects to cover the top but it didn't matter, she squeezed through everything. Like I said, it's a great concept, but it needs something for on top. I know my hamster is evil (her one red eye says it all!) but she can't be the only one that climbs the short wall, right?!"

"The playpen is intended to keep your animal inside. However, it only took my hampster about two hours to learn how to escape. He is able to pull himself up and hop over the playpen walls. This was not fun when I asked my roommate to watch him for two minutes while i went to the bathroom and came back to discover that he had escaped when she turned her back. The playpen does work when hampster is supervised and kept from climbing over the walls."

"my hampster is really shy so i thought about gettin this because my friend has it. When i got it i set it up and put nugget in it. I was able to work with him so he gets used to hands but soon he was gettin scard. He started runnin around so i got him up and put him in his cage. I really like it. It is great for tranning!!!!!"

"i just baught this for my dwarf hamster and both he and i love it. it gave pocket lots of space to run around i just put his food and some water in it and he had a blast. there was no chewing on the bars or trying to climb the sides he just ran and had fun. i love it."

"i would recommend this product to anyone interested in buying a play pen for you small animal. i got it for a good price and it was completely worth it. its a great place to just let your hampster or other small animal get its space somewhere besides it cage. My hampster loved it and had lots of space to run around in. If you want to buy a playpen then this is the perfect one."

"I got this playpen when I adopted my second guinea pig and he loves to jump and climb, so whenever I have him playing on the couch, I try to block of the sides so he can't jump off, but he jumped right over it!
So then I gave this to my little teddy bear hamster and it slowed her down, took her about 10minutes to figure out how to climb over it. Once she figured that out, it was a matter of seconds before she did it again.
The pen is made well, out of strong metal wire and the colour varies a little, mine were dark bold colours, unlike the one in the pic which is more pastel.
If you want to find a new toy or way to get your friend exercise I would get this this pen. Great for separating two different animals from eachother too. While introducing my new guinea pig to my old one, I put the wire between them so they couldn't hurt eachother. It worked great!"
