disappointed

"Bought this in size medium a month or two ago for my medium size 6 month old dog. It was a little too big, but worked ok and I figured he'd grow into it. The protection around the buckles was nice but a little bit of a hindrance. Now two months later, a strap is completely frayed off and the buckle broke. Granted he is a puppy, but he did not bite or tear at it - this was just from normal use. It would be nice if they would give a range of measurements that it would fit instead of just "medium"."

"I suppose it depends on the dog. It didn't fit my dog right and it would ride up on his back when he ran. The pockets were nice though."

Best Purchase So Far!
Date: August 18, 2009
"THIS IS AMAZING! I have tried every harness, nose leader, choke collar available to stop my 85 lb pit bull from pulling. Nothing has worked... BUT!!!! I heard that if dogs that like to pull wear a backpack, they feel like they have an important mission to fulfill. So I figure whats another $15 to try it out. IT WORKED IMMEDIATELY! Her attitude changed instantly, she is more calm and listens when I give her commands. She did not pull me once, the leash was loose the entire way, except for when she saw that squirrel! I'm hoping it lasts longer than some of the other reviewers... I know its not going to last forever... its not durable but for 15 bucks its a good starter for learning; I'm sure I will invest in one of the more expensive/ canvas packs when we wear this one out. (I used the large size for my dog, she is short so the front harness is a little low, and the bags sag pretty low when filled, but it serves its purpose, and she doesn't show any signs of discomfort.)"

We loved it
Date: May 25, 2009
"My fault I bought the large. I wanted a backpack to slow down my baby girl dog. I tried it on in the store, it looked good. First hiking trip, I put it on, folding bowls and water bottles on either side. Nice and balanced. LOL I didn't think about the weight stretching it! Poor baby loved it and ran forever with it on but I had to take it off before there was a problem. She kept coming back to me while we ran. Every time she saw it she was very excited. If I could find this backpack in a small I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But I'm looking for another in a small."

"I purchased this for my german shepard and after ONE walk the stitches around one of the belly clasps came off and the stickes at the seam of the chest strap came completely out! Definitely DON'T buy this. VERY poor quality!!!!!!!!!"

Even my dog loves it!
Date: September 16, 2008
"My wolf-dog, Kia, and I love this saddlebag! She is 70 lbs and wears the large size; it is padded, ventilated and very adjustable. It looks like it would fit a dog between 45 to 80 lbs. Has large pockets, can carry lots of water and treats as well as a plastic bowl and poopie bags. We have had it for about a year and have washed it several times; it seems to be quite sturdy and Kia acts like she doesn't know she is wearing it. I am ordering another one for my son's dog."

Disappointed
Date: June 21, 2008
"At first I loved this bag and so did my german shepherd, but after only the THIRD time using it on a walk one of the belt stitches unraveled and came off leaving it unusable. Poor quality if you ask me."

Ok for price

"This product was the only thing to slow my German Shorthair Pointer down on our walks, unfortunately after just 3 walks the buckle for the front strap detached itself by coming unsewn. Much to our dismay we are unable to fix the problem and will probably not be purchasing another one of these packs!"

Really enjoyed this!
Date: May 11, 2008
"Our two dogs, huskies, both needed something to do while on their walk. So we bought them these backpacks. They were having fun, everybody thought they were cute and they were a huge help. We walked them to the farmers market and were able to load the homemade dog treats, bread and strawberries into their back packs to walk home. Both dogs were wagging their tails when we got home.
Our older husky ended up outgrowing hers, but our younger husky, Petey, is still going in hers. But now they're pulling mom on her bike. Maybe they could wear their backpacks then, and be a sled dog.
This backpack is fun and helpful! It also stretches and is comfy for a puppy to wear. The dogs don't feel like they're helping, they're just having fun."
