"For something so simple, it sure does make my kitty happy! It's helped with keeping him from scratching the carpet and furniture. It also really helps to sprinkle a little dried catnip inbetween the cracks."

"I like these because they are wide enough for the cat to stand on while they are scratching. The smaller ones tend to flip and not support a "good scratch".
Plus, when the top is worn, you just flip 'em over and have a clean slate!!! :)"

"As a tip from a friend, she uses these in front of her litter boxes, which greatly reduces tracking and is much friendlier on cats paws than those no tracking mats that have those horrible 'thorns and prickly bits'.
It does work 100% in that respect, however my cats have always scratched vertical scratchers, never have I thought to offer horizontal scratching surfaces, much to my amazement my cats LOVE these if not even PREFER these Cardboard scratchers.
I have since bought more in all shapes, sizes and angles."

"From the second we pulled this out of the box our kitty loved it. He lays on it, sleeps on it, stretches on it, scratches it and plays with it! I am going to be buying more to put in other places around the place. I like that this one is flat on the ground vs. the apline scratcher. I have that one too though and he loves both. But I especially like that this one doubles as a bed and resting spot for him where the other one can't. Our new 11 wk old kitty likes sleeping on it and scratching on it as well. Often times they cuddle up on it together. I would definitely recommend this."

"Our 3 year old cat loves loves loves this cardboard scratcher...she uses it all the time to sharpen her little claws on it, and we've never seen her scratch any other item of furniture or anything else in the house. She also likes to sleep on it for some reason (yup, had to return the fancy cat bed we bought her), hang out on it, and it's her little happy oasis (or as my husband calls it, her safe island). As one of the other reviewers mentioned, the great thing about this scratcher is that you can flip it over and use the backside once one side is all used up.
Would highly recommend it...we've got 3 in our house in all of our kitty's favorite hang-out places and we'll probably get some more too."

"Kitties love scratchers, it's just a matter of which one. I have them all over the house, and in different materials. This particular one happens to be one of their favorites. They seem to prefer the wider verigated cardboard opposed to the ones that are more tightly woven. After I saw how much they loved the 1st one, I went back and bought another for a different room in the house. LIke other reviewers have said, my furbabies not only scratch them, but nap on them as well. Great purchase!"

"WOW, is this ever a great deal for cat lovers!
If you've tried a cardboard scratcher before, you know how much fun your cats will have with it. If you haven't, be prepared for hours of scratching, rubbing, and playful behavior. If you have multiple cats, they may fight for a chance on the box, or even snuggle up and sleep on it together...believe it or not, I've seen my cats do both!
The scratcher is great because it gives your cats something healthy to claw on (a completely normal behavior) without destroying your furniture. It wears down their claws and keeps them healthy, and is great fun for a pet owner too...it's more entertaining than TV!
If you have any handicapped or elderly cats (I have one myself), who aren't supposed to climb and jump, this is a PERFECT product because it allows them to play and scratch, as well as gives them someplace comfy to sleep (I bought her a fancy pet bed. She prefers to sleep on her scratchy box), and all of this only a few inches off the floor.
PLUS, if you're a thrifty shopper, you'll really love this product because, unlike the version available at other stores, this scratcher isn't glued into the box. When side #1 is worn out, just flip it over, and the fun can start all over again! You get twice as much scratching for the same price!
My #1 favorite product to purchase at petco.
