Ive seen many differences in temp by using the stick on types and the fancy digital ones but the simple old school glass types are the most accurate.

The display is too small for me to see easily. I prefer a thermometer with larger numbers. It does seem accurate.

Best Thermometer on the market

Save your money, dont blow it all on a fancy thermometer with led lights and digital display. This is truly one of the best products i have ever purchased at petco it is accurate, portable, sleek, and VERY reliable it dosent break easily at all you'd have to drop it from a pretty high place like 20 feet (dont try it has mercury) and the suction cup design is flawless unless you have big and i mean big fish that would try to take the filter off of the wall of the tank.comes with a safe temperature range for tropical fish and my 2 clown loaches and sharks love it in my 60 gallon tank . I have two thermometers on both sides just to make sure of the temperature readings being accurate and sure eanough they were both the same. I recommend this product for everyone.

I use this thermometer to check the temperature of the faucet water to adjust the temperature before I send it to the tanks with a faucet hose water changer. Makes it easier on the fish not to have water too hot or cold when adding fresh water. I can match the tank temperature. Please use a water conditioner if you have chlorine in your water.
You can use it to change water in a beta tank also with the pail methold. Use it inside the tanks in all tank sizes.

Someone had suggested the strip thermometer that sticks on the outside of the glass, but it was hard to read. This sits right inside the tank and is very easy to read and if I want to remove it I can, it doesn't detract from the view.

Love this, push the suction cup down towards the mercury & it won"t float & will hold the suction better. Make sure you take it below the safe range so you can read the temp. Great product.

O.k., I admit I'm older with less than perfect eyesight, but the print on the guage inside the thermometer is too small for me. I can tell if the temperature is within the green "safe" zone, but that's a pretty big zone. I prefer the stick on ones that give me a more precise reading.

Works As Expected

I got this thermometer as the stainless one sold by petco seems to have issues being hung on the rim of most larger aquariums. The suction cup model has worked flawlessly. I have not had any issue with it becoming unattached or floating. Also more reliable/accurate than the color changing sticker thermometer I used to use.

I already have a thermomentor that sinks but every time I go to read it it is turned the wrong way and I have to reach in the tank to read it. With this new thermomentor it sticks to the side of the tank and when I go to read it viola it is always in the right direction.

I got this thermometer for my red eared slider, for it to be submerged in his tank. His water is about 6 inches deep and I kept the thermometer in the water at all times. My turtle, though, had the habit of coming up to the side of the tank when getting excited about anyone who would approach him and would always end up knocking the thermometer off the side with his claws. That was one annoying problem. The other was that it broke, and very easily. The last time he knocked off the thermometer, I couldn't get a grip on it as it was bobbing up and down in the water (I didn't want to put my fingers in the water), and the glass broke when I finally got hold of it (luckily it the pieces fell into the cylinder, instead of getting into the water). I may have just had bad luck with the thermometer, but either way, I am getting a different one.
