"I have five cats who would much rather scratch furniture and rugs rather than their scratching posts. I purchased Sticky Paws On-A-Roll and placed it strategically on the antique wool rug my cats loved to scratch so much. It has literally stopped them in their tracks, not only on the rug but also on the furniture"

"My cat scratchers furniture so bought this when I got a new couch. While it detered my cat, it left a sticky mess on my couch which I can't get off. It looks terrible."

"Ah, the sticky tape. We all know what this is for. If you are like me you probably have a cat who enjoys scratching everything BUT the scratching post. This sticky tape works well on the corners of furniture, door trim, corners of cabinets, doors and many other things. My "scratcher" will not attempt to scratch things that I have covered in this tape. It definitely deters her from trying since they don't like that sticky feeling on their paws. I'd recommend this product as it works well and is a good value."

"The only furniture our cats ever want to scratch is our couch, and even then they only clawed the corners of the couch. I put this tape on the corners almost two years ago, and they haven't tried to claw the couch since! They didn't even figure out that they could still claw the exposed material next to the tape -- so either they only like clawing corners, or they're not very smart!
Even though the tape is clear, it is still visible since it's shiny, and if the cat rubs against it (which ours don't) I'm sure it will attract hair and dust. Our couch is a tan color so dust doesn't show up much on the tape. You can also not use the tape on some surfaces, such as leather (just read the instructions first). Overall though, these are pretty minor issues considering it's saving our couch!
It should probably go without saying that you should also give your cat a good alternative place to scratch, like a good scratching post or cat furniture. (We have a scratching post near our couch that's half sisal and half carpet, and our cats cannot walk past the post without stopping to scratch!)"

"Unless you can completely cover your furniture with this product, don't bother. It stopped our cats from scratching only where it was applied; they just scratched around it. They also figured out that it was something applied to the furniture and found a way to pull it off. One of them actually smacked me when he saw me applying more of it!"

"I bought this product to try and keep my cat from going under our desks where there are lots of fun-looking cables. I put it on the carpet where it is out of the people's way and so far it seems to be working great! Our cat occasionally still goes under the desk, but about 10 seconds later she comes right back out! And now I don't have to worry about her getting into trouble while I'm not at home to keep her in check :)"

"...if you like what you are sticking it to. It is a very sticky product, but BOTH sides are very sticky. If you have a cat, you know that they have a tendency to leave fur EVERYWHERE.
The fur will get onto the tape and stop it from being sticky. When you go to remove the tape from your carpet, your door, your furniture, etc, it will stay stuck or cause some damage to whatever it is being removed from.
We tried it, but the cats would still scratch once it lost its stickiness. It is an ineffective product all the way around."
