Super!!!
Date: July 18, 2009
"I purchased the 10 gallon power filter and it works great! Also very quite and very easy to set up! All you hear is the water falling out of the filter like a little waterfall, very relaxing at night. And it cleans the water VERY well! You also dont need an undergravel filter with a power filter, GREAT!!! BUY THIS FILTER BEGINNER OR EXPERT GREAT FILTER!!!"

Aqueon Aquarium
Date: November 8, 2009
"We purchased the 20 gallon Aqueon Aquarium kit and are very happy with the performance. We have an outdoor pond and decided to bring the goldfish and shubunkin inside for the winter. I also added two of the plants from the pond. Both the fish and plants seem to have adapted just fine. There are a total of 8 fish in the 20 gallon tank and probably at its maximum based on the size of the tank and fish. We were pleasantly suprised at how quiet the filter was. A true whisper. We've found the filter easy to rinse and replace. I'd recommend this product!"

Not happy with this filter.
Date: November 5, 2009
"Pros: Price
Cons: Motor is housed above the water intake tube. The motor is submerged in the aquarium. This takes up aquarium space and if you are using an UFG it will be a tight fit. I also do not like the fact that this is a big filter.
Filter media is one cartridge that has the carbon in it. Not enough carbon if you have your aquarium fully stocked or have messy fish.
I would spend the extra $10-12 dollars and get the Aqua Clear. It has 2-3 times the amount of carbon, 1 inch sponge, and a large pouch of ammonia remover.
I do not like the fact that when you replace your cartridge with the Aqueon you will throw away the good bacteria you waited so long when you cycled your tank (remember, there is only 1 cartridge for this filter). With the Aqua Clear you have 3. So you can change the carbon 1 month, the sponge the 2nd month, and the ammonia the 3rd month.
I now have the Aqueon, Aqua Clear, and an UGF running in my heavily stocked 10 gallon aquarium. It may be overkill, but the water is so much clearer.
I'm looking to upgrade to a bigger tank. Can't keep myself from getting new fish every time I go to Petco."

Don't Put This Near Where You'll Be Sleeping!
Date: October 8, 2009
"The pump/motor on this unit is not loud however, the trickling noise the water makes is so loud I can't sleep through it and will have to take it back. I have it set up properly and have the water level as high as I can get it in the tank without it overflowing. The problem seems to be from the water inside the unit outside the tank. It is like listening to a leaky faucet or someone pouring water into a glass all night."

decent
Date: August 28, 2009
"i've had the 20 gallon filter for about 8 weeks. it doesn't keep the water crystal clear but it might be my fault with feeding. anyways its silent. my air pump is louder than the filter. the only noise is the water falling back in the tank. dont overfeed and this filter is great. the other ppl complaining about noise must not have set it up right. i have just bought 2 30 gallon filters for my 55 gallon tank. its not running yet but i have full confidence it will be great. easy maintenence."

GOOD
Date: August 11, 2009
"I like how it is really easy to change the filter. I just clean out the cartrage every week and replace it every 4 weeks. Keeps tank pritty clean. Dose not make much noise. But when i first set it up my tank didint sparkle for a few weeks but over all it is a good filter. I think one of the best out there. But i recomend to get a undergavle to go along with it because it cant do it by its self"

"I got this filter in an Aqueon Aquarium set (20 gallons), and I was originally going to replace the filter because a few people said it was noisy. I'm actually statisfied with my filter. My tank is in my room and I can barely hear the filter running, if I can at all. The suction in this filter isn't too strong, so it doesn't suck up the live sand i have in my tank, nor any small fish haha. The bottom is sealed so all your small fish are okay."

Cheap
Date: July 22, 2009
"After I purchased this filter, I was deeply disapointed in the way this filter was put toghether. The body was made of cheap plastic, none of the parts are easy to clean as other filters I've had, and it didn't even come with the right parts for the intake tube!
I returned it shortly after I got it. I would recommend a marineland or Tetra filter for anyone who is looking for a efficent, well put toghether filter, with low maitenance.

VERY VERY quiet!!
Date: July 6, 2009
"I got the Top Fin 10 gal aquarium kit and it came with a dinky little pump that didn't work at all. So I bought this pump and it works really good. It was cheap, but the filters are expensive. It is very quite too. It has a very small hum to it. My Giant Danios like to ride in the current of the filter."

Average job for a cheap price
Date: February 6, 2009
"This filter came with my little 14 gallon aquarium set up and so far it has been ok. It is nice and quite but my water sure isn't "crystal clear" like the description suggests. When I turn on my hood light you can see stuff floating around still. It is doing its job though b/c the filter cartridge does get nasty pretty quickly. Does an average job for a cheap price"

super quite
Date: February 1, 2009
"i got the filter in a set of a whole bunch of other supplies for fish keeping. i love it!!!!! i think its so quite except for the quitest buzzing, which i find calming. i dont know why other people complain that theirs is loud, but maybe its broken or they arent using it with the right tank or hood. i got mine with an aquion hood and tank and it works perfectly. a must buy!"

Not silent
Date: November 18, 2008
"I purchased this filter for 10 gallon tank in my bedroom. Based upon the reviews here I thought that it would be quiet if not silent as the packaging states. I've had it running for about two weeks as I do a fishless cycle, and it is too noisy. The submerged motor causes a lot of vibration. Unfortunately it keeps me up at night and I will have to look for another filter."

Loud!
Date: November 6, 2008
"I bought this filter for my 10 gallon divided betta tank after reading so many good reviews. First off, I had to try and squeeze it behind my hood since it stuck out so much, and the water wanted to flow directly onto the hood instead of the tank. Second the flow was MUCH stronger than my old filter even though they were said to be the same. Within about 15 minutes of it running it got EXTREMELY noisy. I gave it an hour and the noise level only grew, so back to the store it went."

Goldfish Approved
Date: August 7, 2008
"I have a 5gallon tank with 1 Black Moor goldfish. I had tried 3 other types of filtration all designed for 10g tanks and none of them could keep up with my goldfish's mess like the Aqueon 10g could. This thing is quieter than any of the others I have tried and works way better than any of them as well. I would recommend this to any goldfish owner."
