"The wood is beautiful and will not fall apart. The colors and shape is a wonderful addition to any planted aquarium. It is a great value and sure beats trying to sink found driftwood. Do expect it the leach color into your tank. I see several mindboggling complaints from people about discoloration. I suggest people purchase an acrylic replica if they cannot deal with the slight discoloration or the treatment process. The discoloration can be curbed by bucket soaking the wood for an extended period. I soaked mine for over three weeks. The only down side from an online order is that you never know the actual size and shape of the piece you will get."
"I have 6 tanks, all with manzanita wood and thought I'd give this a shot. VIBRANT and sinkable, this wood will also leak tannins for a few days so be prepared for brown water.
"Purchased 2 small pieces for my 20 gallon planted tank. Soaked them in a bucket and changed the water daily. After about a week, there was only minimal water discoloration. They look great in the tank, and the slight water coloring has given it a more natual look. Perfect for a planted tank, and the fish love their new playground!"
"I purchased mopani wood from Petco and had the problem with a white opaque slime about 1/8 to 1/4 '' thick forming on the light side of the wood. Don't know if this is common or if boiling will stop this from happening."
