"It is very unlike me to go back and review a product, but I can't say enough about this one. I have 4 dogs, 3 golden retrievers and a black lab....ages 14, 11, 4 and 2. I was skeptical about whether I could get my older dogs to use dog doors. I read a review of another customer who said, "you CAN get an old dog to do new tricks." I will second that! It took a little work (and plenty of dog cookies,) but all 4 of my dogs use the doors freely. I have a large fenced-in yard, and my girls now have the freedom to go in and out as they please. The doors are very weather-tight. I checked them with a candle when I installed them, and they don't draw a draft. Once in awhile I have to put the aluminum doors in when we have storms or big wind, but it's rare. I'm so relieved that they now can do as they please when I'm away at work. They are exhausted in the evenings, and that's a good thing!"

"I am so pleased with the petsafe freedom door! I have 2 puppies and 2 cats who are indoor/outdoor. It only took about 5 min to get both of my puppies outside:) Even my youngest took it like a pro right away. My cats come and go now as well and they seem so happy:) Now instead of meowing at our door,they can just come in;) We put it right on our outside door going to our backyard deck and now we have happy puppies! My one pup was still working on potty training,and now she has had no accidents at all! Installation I thought was a little tricky but my hubby got it;) I really couldnt be more happier! It also has a locking door for the inside for night time and when you are away:) 10 all the way!!:):)"

My New Best Friend

"I have 2 dogs (8yrs & one 7mths) and 3 cats. We placed the door directly into the wall. After 1 week everyone is using it. SO you can teach an old dog new tricks! I have the xxxbig because the 7mth. old is a mastiff, with a sensitive stomach, and isn't done growing yet. The cats had a few issues at first with the door being a little heavier than the cat door that it replaced. We don't know how it will work when winter gets here as far as drafts go. But other wise the door is great."

"We are extremely pleased with the PetSafe Freedom Aluminum Dog Door. We don't have to worry about letting the dogs in or out. They love being able to come and go as they please. It has a lock on it for night time security. Installed easily, and dogs adjusted to it in 2 days. Great product for the money! Would definately recommend."

Love the doggie door

"My husband installed this door in about an hour. My dog LOVES it! He was a little hesitant to use it at first, but it did not take long for him to enjoy his new-found freedom. I am very pleased overall. The door is nice and sturdy and has a panel you can insert if you want to close it off. This may be the best $100 we have ever spent. NOTE: the weight charts are correct for ordering. Our dog weighs just over 40 lbs and the medium door was too small for him. The large door looked huge to me but it fits him nicely."

Perfect for Indoor

"I bought this product to use as an indoor only way for my cats to access their litter boxes in the unfinished portion of our basement. They learned how to use it very quickly and enjoy their extra privacy, not to mention how nice to is not to see (or smell) their litterboxes. Took some time to install but definitely worth it, in our case. Thank you."

"I love having my pet door for our dog! I feel so much better having it, especially when we need to go out and are going to be away for a while. I was worried that it would let in cold air, but it doesn't. One of my biggest fears was being away and the house catching on fire and our dog being trapped inside. Now he can get out! Also, we have had trouble with strangers trying to come into our backyard, well, he can now get out of the house and stop them! Also, it's great not having to be woken up at 2:00 AM to let your dog outside to go to the bathroom. This is a wonderful thing to have for our dog and my own peace of mind."

Doggie Door

"Works as it should BUT this'll be the 3rd flap I'll have to replace:( - more than half the cost of the entire assembly. With high energy costs, the plastic bows on either side as my puppies enter & exit - NOT energy efficient! The puppies (2 English Mastiffs, 1.5 years old)bark if there's a wind -- the plastic door flaps. There is an energy efficient doggie door, but it starts at, gulp, $425!"

"This is a very good pet door that allows your dog to go in & out by themselves. The only downside is our new dog chewed the rubber flap & when we went to replace it, it was very hard to find & expensive."

"Extra Large Freedom Pet Door,blows open with even the slightest breeze. Mine is on a deck covered with lattice and a roof, doesn't matter. I had snow inside this morning because the door blows open. Other wise it is great."
