Wonderful Gate
|
Date: October 25, 2008

"Excellent gate for smaller animals or if you have larger ones that dont jump and just need a reminder to keep out. Flexible length and great to step over. Sturdy and good looks. I use one at the cat litter door and another in the kitchen."

"Like another reviewer, I bought this gate to keep my dachshund from eating the cat's litter. Now my doggie has no more 'litter snacks' and my older cat can jump over it easily. Great Product (wish I would have ordered it sooner)"

"Excellent for the smaller Dogs and easier on me now that I only need to step over! I noticed a friend using one at a dog show and came home and ordered two, it will be great for home and with the setup so simple they will be great for traveling!"

love height but poorly constructed

"We have had this gate for 2 weeks. It started off well. It takes a couple minutes to set up & adjust each of the plastic screws. We have had quite a few issue with it in the short time we've had it. Here's a couple: * We soon realized that our lab cannot get through and everytime he wanted to go through it took about 5 minutes to take the gate down then set it back up. * Each time we put it up it got harder to adjust. The rubber feet no longer want to grip the wall and slide and its taking paint off the wall and falling (& breaking) often. * My husband and I have each caught our foot on it while walking over, both times it fell and snapped the wood on the side support bracket. The third time it fell was because our puppy jumped up on it, snapping the dowells off that hold the little door on) * the way you set the width of the gate is by sliding the 2 sections next to each other and screwing a screw at the top and 1 at the bottom into a series of holes that run along the top & bottom of the gate. The problem with this is that the wood around the holes are wearing down to make a long groove in place of a series of holes so now you cannot adjust the width anymore. I really wish this gate was sturdier because it is a very good concept. We are still using it but now it is permanantely in place (much as our lab protests) and all the pieces are now attached with gorilla glue, screws, and duct tape until I can find another gate."

"This is one nice little gate. I now own two of these Walk Over Wooden Gates to keep my dachshunds out of the cat boxes and confined to the approved areas of our home. The height is also perfect for our older cat to jump over without straining himself."

Best gate for price

"I bought this gate to put on our stairwell, mostly to keep my pug from getting downstairs during the day. Also for my other roommate who just got a corgi. My last gate screwed into the wall and ended up being torn out of the wall. This one was easy to put into place, I was a little confused by how the pressure screws worked. At a first glance you would think they screw into the gate but its just a lose hole the rest in. What you need to do is put the gate into place with some space between the adjusters and then twist the plastic adjusters until the move towards the gate. This will cause the plastic adjusters to rest against the gate as the screw is pushed out towards the wall. Now do this to all four end and the gate should hold perfect. We haven't had any problems other then my pug figured he could jump over it, we just moved it up and inch or two and he could jump it anymore. Problem solved."

poor design on pressure adjusters
|
Date: June 30, 2008
|
"The gate is fine but the pressure adjusters on the side slip around in the holes provided & won't create the pressure required for a tight fit. Good idea but it doesn't work. It fit when I first put the gate up but once it was removed & then mounted again, the adjusters no longer would create pressure. They just spun uselessly in the holes. New adjusters won't work as the fault lies in the size of the holes & with use the wear makes them even larger. They need to turn but with the resistance a snug hole would provide. No solution I can see offhand. but might think of something."

Great gate!
|
Date: June 18, 2008
|
"I bought this gate after looking at many other, more expensive gates. I foster small dogs and needed something I could keep up, but that would also allow my pups to walk thru when needed. The 18" height is terrific for stepping over....yet it keeps my doggies from coming thru with the little door closed. I didn't quite know how to set it up at first, but my friend figured it out just fine. I guess it's a little tricky if you're not mechanically inclined. <grin> It may not work if you have jumpers. But if you don't? It's the best. I have Maltese, Yorkies, Min Schnauzers...and none of them even try to jump it. They merely poke their noses thru the slats to watch me. Better than mesh gates for them to try to see thru."

"Bought this gate to contain my Boston. Was easy to assemble- no tools! I guess my Maisy is too agile because she was able to jump over until I raised it about two inches from the floor. Now I can step over it and she cannot jump over! Was just what I needed!"

"When I first bought this gate to use for my new puppy I was extremely happy with it. Now only 3 weeks later the gate will not stay up anymore. The screws stopped working correctly: they can no longer be tightened and the puppy knocks it over almost every time she is left in the kitchen."

"we love the walk over gate, I even bought 2 ! we were always having to put the child gate up when we would be away and now we can leave the walk over gates up and just close the door when we leave! and when we are home we leave the little door open and the dogs go in and out of the room. It works perfect for us!"

Just what I hoped for.

"Easy to install, no damage to walls or doorway woodwork; sturdy enough for a small dog ( although mine hasn't attmepted to jump on it); easy to step over. The open/close gate for the dog is convenient. I almost didn't get them ( bought 2) based on some negative reviews, however, this product fit my needs exactly!"

Disappointed
|
Date: March 1, 2008
|
"After reading some stellar reviews, I purchased this gate. It came out of the box as promised: very attractive wood, perfect height, and easy instructions. However, that is where the ease ended. This has to be the most difficult gate to put up. It instructs you to select your width and then adjust the bumper knobs which is virtually impossible and if the knobs aren't all screwed to the same degree the gate is extremely wobbly."

Decent Purchase
|
Date: February 23, 2008
|
"The first gate we received from petco was damaged but they replaced it immediatly with a new one, once we put the new one up, it wasn't our English Bulldog Puppy that damaged the gate but our 2 1/2 year old from trying to climb over it to get through the door way. The gate gives way from my sons weight and then damages the side braces. This gate can handle the puppy or smaller dog, but if your child isn't able to walk over it yet, reconsider a different purchase. Other then that, the gate is great!"

Perfect Pet Gate
|
Date: February 14, 2008
|
"Fantastic gate... I bought it because of it's low height as I have problems lifting my left leg due to polio. I was amazed at how easy this gate was to adjust. The door is a handy little addition. I have a Boston Terrier & a Pug puppy & this gate works great for them. I previously wasted my money on a metal gate that was impossible for me to adjust as it only adjusted in 6" increments. This wooden one is truly adjustable :)"

Did what more expensive models couldn't!

"Very happy with this item. I had ordered several more expensive, more elaborate gates from another store, but none of them fit quite right in the 44" space. My 20lb terrier, who definitely has a fondness for bolting out the doorway, remains dutifully behind the gate when the gate door is closed."

"Love this gate, we have 3 in our house to keep our sweet little pups out of trouble. It is easy to install, and easy to step over for our 2 legged family members. And also easier if we want to let them through the gate."
