Kitty Kabana a bit disappointing

1) Its a bit of a pain to assemble and get it around the litter box. Once you manage to get the box arranged on the bottom piece, you have to zipper it together. Not easy since you are reaching around and over the cover. Combine that with the likelihood that you have the box against a wall or in a corner, it takes a lot of agility and flexibility on the part of the person putting it together.
2) Once you have it all assembled, you'll notice that the top sags because the connector peg they give you to put the top segments together is too short and loose not giving the amount of support it should have. I don't know why they made it two pieces. Maybe a single piece wouldn't fit in the shipping box?
3) I have the LitterMaid Mega Elite Mega box which is a bit longer so the Kabana isn't quite long enough to keep litter from being tossed out the front edges.
4) I don't know why LitterMaid didn't make a hard-top that fits onto the top edge of the box. The Kabana design still allows for litter to be kicked over the edges of the box and allows sprayed urine to go over the back and edges to pool on the bottom of the Kabana. I've inserted a plastic pad to help keep the urine from collecting and soaking into the Kabana. But that just makes it that much more of a pain to set up the box-kabana, which you will need to to a lot since you'll have to take it apart to clean out the tossed litter and wash the urine off.
Overall, I'd say if you can find something else that will serve your purpose of hiding the box, providing privacy or keeping the dog away from the Kitty-Roca, do so.

I bought this Litter Maid Box for my 3 cats for Christmas and added the Cabana right after.. The only drawback is the instructions are a little vague, but comon sense will get you through !
2 kitties were totally cool with the Cabana, the "skittish" kitty it took a bit longer, but now we're ALL HAPPY!!!

Opened the box, but have not used yet. Nicely made. Look forward to setting up. Looking forward to not having so much of the mess around the litter box. I think my cat will like the privacy and darkness too, which is just as important.

It arrived and I was very excited. I put it together immediately and proceeded to also set up the LitterMaid Elite Mega Litter Box. One cannot reach the controls on the litterbox when the Kabana is in place. If the rake needs a light cleaning it is very difficult to get to. The space where I put the LitterMaid is fairly small and houses the litter box just right. With the Kabana, there wasn't enough room as the litter box had to be pulled out in order to allow the door to the receptical to open and close. It was an impossible situation and already so much work and I hadn't even bothered to put cat litter in the pan of the LitterMaid. I removed the Kabana and put the pieces in their perspective packaging and returned it to the nearest Petco store. Without the Kabana I have no difficulty reaching the controls, rake or the detachable pan. The cats do not mind going without a cover as I had anticipated since their previous litter box had a cover. They love the LitterMaid.
