"So we bought this collar for a Morkie who weighs about 7 pounds and when we got it on him we realized the plastic is so poorly constructed that it won't stay put!!! Did deliver a few shocks, but after learning that he can twist his head and move the collar, it stopped working. Good idea, poor design."

"This product did not work for my pomeranian. It just did not phase her at all. I will be returning it. It is very expensive. I'll be trying the other sound/vibration collar as it is much less and has better reviews."

"You need to understand that i was the most anti-bark collar person in the world, everyone told me to use this but i said no he will learn one day to stop when i say stop. After running with my pup one day he went after a bike rider and pulled me down-that was it, i got online and got it in the mail less than four days... THIS WORKS now on walks when dogs or people go by he does nothing sometimes he even sits and waits for them to pass .! The first day you will feel really bad and you will not want to leave your dogs side. The collar will warn your dog and after a couple days he will learn to only bark twice before he is "punished" and then not at all. They will learn and they will not be mad at you :) i promise. Everytime my dog is "punished" he runs to my side as if hes saying sorry. He doesnt run away from you and hide. ( i guess that really depends on your dog though )
You need to at least try it, sometimes the collar does go to the side but everything isnt perfect. The collar goes off from your dogs vocal cords-so keep it right in the middle of Her/His neck under his/her chin. If walks are the hard part for you-keep it a little tight on walks and then when you get home give him/Her a little more wiggle room. - you can get your money back its worth a try! i know i will NEVER return this item.thank you to all the reviews- you are what made me decide to buy this collar. Best 80.00 for sure! :)"

"We bought this thing for my wifes min-pin,who obviously is a small dog (hence the small dog bark collar). First of all whoever desinged the collar must have never owned or even seen a small dog. The hard plastic will not conform to a small dogs neck at all which causes the collar to move all over the place which makes it completely innefective. When you actually do get it in the right spot and your dog barks it doesnt do anything anyway. In short don't waste your money!"

"If you're reading these reviews then you already know this collar does not fit well. I think you almost have to tighten it to the point of pinching the skin to get it to stay in one place. With a simple shake of his head, my terrier can move the collar out of position.
That said, the product does its job and I really don't think the zaps cause a lot of pain. I was worried about a change in my mood but my dog is his same old self after testing the collar.
I was satisfied with this product, but I don't know if I would buy it again. A collar that can fit and stay in place and without the hard plastic would work much better."

"ok, so I've read the bad reviews on the plastic collar that didn't fit properly, but I never expected it to be this bad. My chihuahua can't even have it on straight for 5 seconds without it turning sideways. the collar is so badly designed. The side where the fastening is way too bulky and makes the collar slip sideways, therefore doesn't work, my dog is barking without even noticing! don't waste your money."

"I really never thought I would have to resort to this kind of bark control. I have 2 pomeranians and 1 jack russel terrier. When we moved from an apartment to our new home our 2 yr. old pomeranian started barking like crazy. He constantly guarded the door (which has a glass window portion) and when anything on the other side moved, he freaked out! Of course, at that point the other dogs freaked out and we couldn't get control of them. The barking was driving us nuts as we worked with them for over a year trying to put the barking to an end. Finally, we gave in and figured we would give it a try. We put this collar on our 2 yr. old pom, he got shocked once and the house as been SILENT ever since! I cannot describe how amazing this product is and how it has finally brought peace to our home. Although our pom didn't exactly enjoy his first shock, he is soo much happier now! He isn't nervous all the time, doesn't guard the door and doesn't bark! AMAZING! This thing is worth it's weight in gold!

"My dog had been barking out of boredom for sometime and I received several complaints about it. SO my girlfriend bought this just to give it a try, and after 3-5 barks my dog got corrected. She yelped a bit but was immediately okay and stopped barking. I tried it on myself to see if it hurts and it really doesn't, it startles you more than anything. I compare it to licking a 9V battery. Now, when she begins to bark now we put it on her and soon as it hits her neck she stops immediately. The device does slip to the side a bit but has still worked well for us. I'd recommend this collar to anyone. Its seems she knows now when the collar goes on what will happen so I never hear a peep. If you try it I recommend giving it a few days! Took 2 days for us!"

"Okay after reading all the reviews on this collar I was skeptical. People have stated that it does not fit well on small breeds, well it does I have a tea cup yorkie that is full grown at 4 pounds and it fits her great it will slip to the side a little but it still works. I put it on her for the first time today and she barked 2 times and on the third times the zap and she yelped but after that I have not heard a sound. This collar has really made a difference and has stopped her barking completely and it has only been one day. This collar will work!!!!!!!"

"My husband and I live in a Senior Citizen Complex and have 2 Schnoodles that we adore. The only problem is their barking and one of them was (notice I used past tense) aggressive to the point of running at, and barking at other residents if she was off the leash. We even got a notice from the Landlord that we had to do something about the barking or get rid of the dogs. So we tried the ultrasonic collars and had no luck whatsoever. I talked to my Vet and asked her about the shock collars before I would try it and she agreed that we had tried everything else first so it would probably be the next thing to try. A much better option than surgery to remove their barking ability! I ordered only one collar to try first and we used it on"Little Miss Aggressive" the first day. She started yapping on our first test walk and after the 3rd bark she got zapped and came running back to my side. She has only tested it one other time and now she just talks a lot. She knows when the collar is on, she cannot bark and she does not even test it anymore. She also quit running at people when she stopped barking and now the whole neighborhood likes her. Now, for dog number 2, our little guy who is 18 months old... He is much more stubborn and gets zapped a lot more. But his barking has subsided considerably and now he only barks twice and knows if he barks a third time it's going to hurt. Sometimes he's willing to risk it though. We absolutely could not live without these collars or our dogs! The collars do slip to the side of their throats, (I did order a second one) but it's not a big issue for us because they work so well and have saved our relationship within the complex. I just re-adjust them when necessary."

"Well, my 20 lb pug named Quincy had (notice i used past tense) a barking problem. Every little noise outside the house. Anytime anyone was at the front door. Anytime he saw someone walking their dog. BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK.. etc. About 5 months ago I moved out of my parents house and into a condo. Now that the weather is getting nice i've been bringing him outside a lot more. I felt like a horrible dog owner. I was not able to control his barking. I bought this collar (although some said it didn't work) and made sure I kept all my receipts. (I bought this collar over others because it has both sound & vibration)... It's been 3 days now and it's like a new dog. Follow the instructions. Within the last 3 days he totally got the hang of it. However, the first time he was zapped I wanted to cry. I felt really bad but I knew this is what I needed to do (especially since I had very close neighbors). I noticed that he's been testing it. I find him barking twice and then stopping. He hears the sound and learned that the ZAP was next. I'd take 2 short barks over anything. I'm SOOOO happy :)"

"I knew from other reviews that this bark collar had the potential to slip, but I ordered it anyway for my Pembroke Corgi X because the larger collar by Petsafe was just too bulky for her. I got this one strictly for the small size.
I figured that I would only need to have it work once or twice to be effective with her since she is pretty sensitive and very bright. It stayed in place long enough to work once and since then I usually don't even have to turn it on for her to be quiet. But it does slip off to the side of her neck if she shakes her head even if it is tightened up as far as possible.
So I wouldn't recommend this collar for stubborn breeds like terriers who tend to be less sensitive to discomfort. You have to decide if it's worth the cost for use just a few times if you have a dog that is easily deterred. If you have a stubborn barker then I would go with one of the other Petsafe colllars."

Informed decision on my collar purchases

"OK. So I thought after I read all of the collar reviews I was ready to purchase - and I did. I got the package (2 collars) via FEDEX as promised. However, they simply did not work - for my dogs. I have 2, 11 year old Chihuahuas that have never wore collars before. They are all of 7lbs a piece. The collars did not even mildly irritate them. They barked their fool heads off. I called the collar's customer service number and they were very nice. They walked me through all of the trouble shooting procedures and we came to the conclusion that the shock was not big enough for them. So they are sending out the deluxe version (I pay for the FEDEX again) and then I will send them back the used ones instead of going through Petco. Hopefully this will solve my problem. Good luck with your future collar purchase. It truely is a trial and error."

"This is a LIFESAVER. My husband has to be up for work VERY early every morning and when we first brought our puppy home she was very noisy and barked all night...we got the collar (and extra battery, they run out quickly) and she immediately knew something was different and stopped barking. We use a combination of commands "STOP BARKING" and the collar, so she knows when we want her to be quiet. Now I can leave the room for periods of time without her barking for me to come back. I'm sure our neighbors are happier and so are we. Just make sure you have the collar adjusted properly under her neck in the front/center of her neck right under her chin...if it is off to the side, it won't be as effective."

"I have a "Never Stop Barking" MINI PIN who was making the past few years of life "A Living Nightmare" for everyone in our family including our poor "Jack Russell" who never had a moments peace of being barked at or yelled at by her!! Thanks to our PetSafe Bark Control Collar "Life Is Great"!! I was totally amazed that it took no time at all for her to get the idea of not barking for no reason because there was a price for this kind of behavior! "I have a puppy welsh terrier and this collar would not stay in place. You need to get a no bark collar with a nylon strap, not one with a rubber strap. This unit will not stay in place on small dogs."

"I bought this collar for my barky miniature pinscher. We are in an apartment, and he would bark everytime someone walked past the door. We have had it for about a week, and so far, it is working great. It only took about 3 barks for him to get the picture, and now when the collar is on he is quiet. The collar does need to be a little tight, but if it slides to the side, it still seems to work for him. So far, I am very happy with this purchase, and feel it is money well spent!"

"We have a Pomeranian who barks at anything that moves. After trying the Ultrasonic bark control collar, which would go off randomly at noises other than barking, I was anxious to try Petsafe's new bark control collar. It seemed that it should work; however, the collar will not stay in place on my dog's neck. Even though she has very thick fur, and the collar is as tight as possible, it immediately slips to the side of her neck and is rendered useless since it is not on her vocal cords. I even tried clipping the fur on her neck, no luck. Having had excellent results with Petsafe customer service in the past with other products, I called them and explained the problem. Their only suggestion was to punch an additional hole in the plastic collar to make it fit better. Didn't work, it still slipped sideways. Someone else suggested hot gluing bubble wrap on the inside, didn't work. The problem seems to be with the plastic collar, and since the bark control device is molded into the collar, you can't put it on a better fitting, non-slipping collar."
