Great but has a major flaw
Date: April 9, 2009
"The collar was perfect for my Wheaten Puppy (I got a Medium for a 14 lb dog). She was spayed and was given an e-collar. The e-collar was too big and made it difficult for her to move around and eat. I purchased this collar and it was great while it lasted, she was happy and could do every thing with minor restrictions. This collar would be perfect if they made a few minor changes. (1) the blow up valve is on the outside of the collar - you can see it in the picture. (2) the valve does not "push-in" and lock like a beach ball - it stays upright and is somewhat difficult to get the plug to stay in and (3) there is an zipper that allows you to access the air tube - This is where the plug should be. If the company used a better valve and hid it inside the zipper it would be perfect. I am to blame for this product failing. I took the collar off to walk my dog late at night. When we got inside, I inadvertantly put the collar on with the valve facing forward. She was able to chew the valve off making the collar useless after 3 days of use. This collar will stay on tightly as long as you thread your dog's collar through the inside loops. I bought an inexpensive clip on collar that was perfect."

Best available protective collar
Date: March 10, 2009
"This is a much better option that the old dreadful “lampshade”. My dog didn’t mind at all when I put this on her after her abdominal surgery, and it seems like she doesn't even notice that she has had it on day and night for several days now. That means that she must be perfectly comfortable wearing it. (It reminds me of the travel pillow!) She can see and doesn’t run into the walls, she can eat and drink easily and without making a mess, she can fit through her crate door and other tight spaces… And most importantly, it seems to be doing a good job with keeping my big long-legged puppy from licking and biting herself.
I would definitely recommend this product. Just make sure to get the right size (for in-between, go for the larger one!) and weave the every-day collar through the loops of the protective collar tightly to make sure it stays on.
My only wish is that the manufacturer would add an "air-stop" - a little too much air gets out between blowing it and trying to get the cap on tightly, so you really have to blow as much air in as you possibly can. (I can imagine that someone with bad fingers may not be able to handle the closing of the cap the way it currently is at all...)

Comforting For You and Your Pet
Date: February 26, 2009
"This morning I rushed to my local Petco to purchase this collar for my puppy who was spayed yesterday. What a difference from the hard, difficult to negotiate, disorienting E-Collar she got sent home in. This collar is simple to assemble, lightweight and form fitting. Most importantly, while wearing it she is able to do everything she wants and needs to do and nothing she should not be doing- like licking or chewing her sutures.
My puppy is on the small side with a short neck. There may be different results depending on your pet's neck length. But since you can return the product if the fit is not right I definitely would give it a try."

BEST PRODUCT LIKE THIS ON THE MARKET!
Date: February 10, 2009
"There is not a product on the market the compares to the ProCollar. It is the best animal-habit preventative device made. E-collars are uncomfortable for dogs, and they are aren't conducive to happy healing.
ProCollars are amazing, comfortable and versatile. My pup had just got spayed and this kept her happy and healthy.
If the weather is cold, sometimes it can deflate the collar a bit, but that's a given and matter of science and physics, no fault of ProCollar's makers. My pup was playing with other puppies, romping and rolling around in the yard. Teeth, claws, you name it -- NOTHING PUNCTURED THE PROCOLLAR.
This is the perfect device for these circumstances. I've even taken it to another local pet-shop to convince them they need to carry ProCollars too. I have given them as gifts, as well! A must for any new pet owner."

Does not work
Date: February 4, 2009
"I found this collar very bad, does not hold air for one thing, does not stop the dog from
licking her butt - where surgery was done,
needless to say that WAS why I purchased
it, to keep the stiches in place until the area
heals. This is waste of my time and money,
back to old style plactic collar, at least they
work correct! And, by the way the collar
did fit, and I did inflate it, any dog with half a brain could get around this collar.

Worked great for our situation!
Date: January 31, 2009
"I bought the collar for our 9 year old Rottie-Lab mix as he was chewing his tail raw due to an allergy. The first night he got to his tail and I re-inflated the product and it worked great. What amazed me was that he didn't mind having it on one bit; actually used it as a pillow..so much better than an e-collar. I don't know however, if he would be able to reach his feet, stomach, etc. with the colllar on but, I suspect that he would. It worked great for what we needed it for!"

Works Fairly Well
Date: January 29, 2009
"I used this collar on my 80 pound greyhound because the e-collars terrify him. He has a wound on the inside of his hind leg and the ProCollar does prevent him from reaching it. If the wound were closer to his paw, though, I think he could still get at it. This collar is probably ideal for stockier breeds that don't have the long greyhound legs. It also requires a buckle-type collar that sighthounds don't always wear. I like that it doesn't impair his vision and that he can drink and eat while wearing it. It is easy to inflate and attach."

Lampshade No more
Date: January 27, 2009
"Years ago when I got my dog she was 3 years old and had an ear infection and hematoma that the vet said was so bad that it would cause her to always be prone to them. Regular e-collars (even the clear ones) she was frustrated with and didn't like let alone that they were noisy when bumping against the furniture, floors and walls. While this collar is more expensive than the plastic e-collars and a little hard to inflate with the heavy duty covering, it has proven its worth by being very easy to use because of the velcro strap (I even can put it on in the dark in the middle of the night) and very well tolerated to the point where there is no fuss when she has to wear it. My dog can sleep in all her regular spots and she doesn't wake us up when she shifts her position. Definitely worth the purchase."

Good and Not Good
Date: January 24, 2009
"The ProCollar is a great alternative to the standard e-collar. However, it seems to be made for dogs or cats that have a short neck or short muzzle or both. I tried it on my K9 partner that got neutered, and unfortunately, he was still able to lick at his incision. He is a Belgian Malinois who has a long neck and long muzzle. Perhaps using two ProCollars will do the trick, but I'll just stick to the regular e-collar."

This is a Great choice!
Date: January 19, 2009
"My small cat had just been spayed and I was advised to use a collar for her. I had an old cone type at home so I used it. She went beserk at 1st so I took it off but soon realized she might need it as her incision site started to show stitches and she had the kind that are underneath the skin. I then put the old one on and it worked but because of it being old it soon cracked. I tried another plastic one sold in store but she couldn't eat or drink with it. I spent the extra bucks and got the xsmall size and it was like day & night. She perked up, started eating, drinking and playing with her little kitty friend, who was already thru her spay, and so far so good on her not being able to reach incision or get it off. This is a great product for cats."

Best Purchase Ever

"This Collar is a miracle from God!!
We usesd this collar for our 8 month old 7 lb. kitten. We got her spayed and she ripped off that stupid plastic cone the second we were in the car to bring her home. We tried repeatedly to get it back on her but couldn't, we were desperate by the time we got her home her vet was closed, and she was pulling out her stitches. so I called an urgent care and they suggested this so we made it to petco 1o min. before close of store and followed the directions in the package and it was instant comfort for her, she didn't fight it like she did the cone. She has kept it on all night and hasn't touched her stitches.

Great!
Date: December 16, 2008
"My vet gave us a regular e-collar for my dog's injury. My poor, little guy was miserable in that plastic nightmare. I went and got this collar and it was a true God-send. I just looped his regualr collar through it and he was so much more comfortable; we didn't have any problems keeping it on him for the whole week+ that he had to wear it. It's kind of expensive but totally worth the price, to me, to make my little guy more comfortable. He also managed to use it as a pillow of sorts, when he was slepping!"

Doesn't Work!
Date: December 6, 2008
"This collar won't work for large kittens that wear the petite size, the smallest size I believe. They can pop it right off since it sticks out like a doughnut, this allows the animal enough leverage with its back paws to push it right off. The old lampshade protective collars work much better and are much more reasonable in cost. Good luck finding one of those though. This item is a rip-off. Also, internet price is cheaper than store price."

"I would not recommend this product. I bought one last night, for a dog with a severe ear infection. He keeps scratching his ear, creating wounds on the outside. The packaging states 'scratch and bite resistant'. My dog managed to tear the thing off in less than a day.
In theory, its great. It kept him from scratching his ear for a little while. Unfortunately, it was not resistant enough."

So disappointed
Date: November 24, 2008
"I purchased this item after my dog had a tail injury. When I first tried to blow it up I was unable because the air bladder was torn. I was given another by the store. It seemed good at first, but the dog was able to get at her tail and after a week it slowly deflated. I again returned it and was given another. I didn't blow that one up until my dog had sores on her legs and belly from a flea allergy. Again the collar didn't keep her from getting to the sores. Then after a week it deflated. I give up. I'm so disappointed since I thought I'd found the solution to the awful clown collar."

A complete waste
Date: November 8, 2008
"I'm shocked that this product got any reviews above poor. At first i was so excited. I thought this was too good to be true. And It was. Within minutes he was licking the stitches where he had been neutered. No problem at all. I'm confused as to what this collar is for. Unless he had stitches on his chest. He can easily reach every other part of his body."

"Our Maltese/Lhasa Apso mix was spayed and hated the plastic cone. She wouldn't walk and looked very depressed every time we had it on her. We purchased this protective collar in small and are so pleased. It is 100 times better than the cone. She is able to talk, eat, and drink without injurying her infection site. Plus, it is so easy to get on and off. Thanks for making such a great product!"

What a difference!
Date: October 3, 2008
"My cat was given a cone shaped collar after surgery. Since he couldn't see around it, he kept losing his balance. He couldn't eat or drink properly. This inflatable pillow collar was a life saver! He could see everything, reach his food easily, and best of all, it acted like a pillow when he wanted to nap. He really loved it. It made his healing process go so much smoother. Bless whoever invented this thing!"
